Principles of Exercise: 1. Principle of Overload: Working the body harder than it normally works in order to gain fitness benefits. If you want to improve any aspect of your physical performance, you need to adhere to the exercise principles.  Principles of Exercise:1. Principle of Overload: Working the body harder than it normally works in order to gain fitness benefits. • Apply an overload to either your muscles or

Principle of Progression: Gradual increase in overload (intensity) to keep increasing your level of fitness. • Training Threshold- minimum amount of overload required for fitness benefits. • Training Zone- ideal range of overload for improving fitness• Training Ceiling- upper limit of overload to obtain fitness benefits.

3. Principle of Specificity: A workout should include a specific type of exercise to obtain the desired fitness benefits.

HOW I EXERCISE

1. Create a 6 tabbed foldable and glue it in your notebook (following the teacher’s instrucitons) 2. Write each principle of exercise on the outside of the tab. 3. On the underside of the tab (on the colored paper) write a description/definition of the principle. 4. On the notebook paper below, illustrate the principle. *Use a minimum of 4 colors*
