May/June 2017 Dear Northeast High School Parents, Congratulations to our school community for helping our students meet the Scholarship Challenge! More than 85% of students at each grade level were “E Free” for the 3 rd Marking Period. This was a great collective effort by students, parents, faculty and staff. In the short term students have been awarded the opportunity to wear hats inside our building. In the long term, a more significant amount of students are on track to earn credit in all their classes for the second semester, and ultimately graduating with a high school diploma that will open doors to a post-secondary opportunity. Students have also been very active in our community lately. On March 31, members of our Captains Club, along with Tim Stedman, their Advisor, were highlighted for their efforts in raising awareness for Opioid Addiction on Channel 11 news with Tim Tooten. Student members created a 2 Degrees slogan that has spread throughout the county. You should recognize our student athletes from around the county wearing their purple shirt during warm-ups. Secondly, our Interact Club was recognized for their Backpacks of Love drive by Anne Arundel County Police, who they partnered with to provide comfort to abused children. The school even got a surprise visit from “Comfort” the service dog used to help ease the children who are victims of abuse. The Interact Club, along with Advisor Carolyn Brunnett, filled 55 backpacks with all the essentials for comforting young children in need. Seniors, finish strong. Please continue to keep up with your classwork. Keep your “foot on the gas” until you get to the finish line academically. We just had a successful Prom, and now we can look forward to a successful graduation ceremony, but we have to get the work done first and continue to help one another make good decisions. Parents, please review the dress code policy with your student so they are coming to school dressed for success. Any student out of dress code will need to call their family to bring in clothing that is appropriate for the Home of the Eagle. Dear Northeast High School Parents,
Congratulations to our school community for helping our students meet the Scholarship Challenge! More
than 85% of students at each grade level were “E Free” for the 3rd Marking Period. This was a great
collective effort by students, parents, faculty and staff. In the short term students have been awarded the
opportunity to wear hats inside our building. In the long term, a more significant amount of students are
on track to earn credit in all their classes for the second semester, and ultimately graduating with a high
school diploma that will open doors to a post-secondary opportunity.
Students have also been very active in our community lately. On March 31, members of our Captains
Club, along with Tim Stedman, their Advisor, were highlighted for their efforts in raising awareness for
Opioid Addiction on Channel 11 news with Tim Tooten. Student members created a 2 Degrees slogan that
has spread throughout the county. You should recognize our student athletes from around the county
wearing their purple shirt during warm-ups. Secondly, our Interact Club was recognized for their
Backpacks of Love drive by Anne Arundel County Police, who they partnered with to provide comfort to
abused children. The school even got a surprise visit from “Comfort” the service dog used to help ease the
children who are victims of abuse. The Interact Club, along with Advisor Carolyn Brunnett, filled 55
backpacks with all the essentials for comforting young children in need.
Seniors, finish strong. Please continue to keep up with your classwork. Keep your “foot on the gas” until
you get to the finish line academically. We just had a successful Prom, and now we can look forward to a
successful graduation ceremony, but we have to get the work done first and continue to help one another
make good decisions.
Parents, please review the dress code policy with your student so they are coming to school dressed for
success. Any student out of dress code will need to call their family to bring in clothing that is appropriate
for the Home of the Eagle. We have included the Dress Code Flyer for your reference in this newsletter.
Next, also speak to your student about the supports they can access if they are feeling anxious or sad. Our

Members of the Class of 2017 who hope to play Division I or II athletics need to process a form for the Clearinghouse. The NCAA applications can be downloaded from the Website using www.ncaaclearinghouse.net and should be submitted promptly provided that the student has taken the SAT I or the ACT at least once. When this form is mailed with the fee, make sure that the applicant keeps track of his/her pin number. This number will be needed any time an
applicant wants to access the status of his/her application.
TRANSCRIPTS
Seniors requiring transcripts for college applications or scholarships, must have a transcript form, signed by a parent, on file in the Guidance Office. All transcripts are $2.00 each. Seniors, please allow enough time for a recommendation and transcript to be processed. At least three days notice should be given to the counselors and Mrs. Conner to have these forms ready.
SENIOR TRANSCRIPTS
Final transcripts will be sent to colleges after the report cards have been issued. Report cards are scheduled to be mailed from the Board of Education the end of June. Final transcripts will be mailed during the month of July. ANY SENIOR WHO WISHES TO HAVE A FINAL TRANSCRIPT SENT TO THE COLLEGE THAT THEY WILL ATTEND, NEEDS TO FILL OUT A FINAL TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM THAT WILL BE GIVEN TO THEM IN ENGLISH 12 CLASSES. THE FORM MUST HAVE THE NAME AND ADDRESS OF THE COLLEGE. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR ONE FINAL TRANSCRIPT.
END OF THE YEAR TRANSFERS
Students who know that they will be transferring from Northeast over the summer need to stop by the Guidance Office and pick up a Withdrawal Form, take the form home and have their parents sign it and return the form to Mrs. Conner, Guidance Registrar. Records will be sent home with your student on the last day of school. The office is open each day during the summer to withdraw your student.

Dear Rising Seniors and Parents of Rising Seniors: Your senior year is quickly approaching, and that means it’s time to take Senior
Portraits! Senior portraits will be taken in May, July, and September at Northeast High School. This year May 2 and 3 are the May dates. Please check your mailboxes
for your scheduled time. Lifetouch / Prestige will assign a date to you by postcard. NHS Yearbook works only with Lifetouch for yearbook portraits. So even if you will NOT be purchasing photographs through Lifetouch, but you DO want your senior
portrait to appear in your senior yearbook, you should still have your portraits taken by Lifetouch on your assigned appointment date in order to appear in the yearbook.
Remember!
If you do not have your portrait taken by Prestige, your portrait will NOT appear in the yearbook. It costs nothing to
have your yearbook picture taken, so be sure you come to school on the correct day and time to have your picture
taken even if you are not purchasing portraits. If you miss your appointment, please come on one of the make-up days after contacting Lifetouch / Prestige.
It is important that once you receive your proofs from Lifetouch that you go online and select the portrait that you would like placed in the 2018 yearbook. Choose ONLY
a picture taken in the traditional tux or drape with a BLUE BACKGROUND. If you select a portrait with anything other than a blue background, the yearbook staff will
choose an appropriate one for you. Finally, please understand that the senior portrait pages of the yearbook must be
completed by our staff by the end of September. Therefore, if your portraits are not taken and selected by September 14, your senior portrait will not appear in the
yearbook. If you have any questions, please contact Monica Lynch at [email protected].
Thank you for your cooperation, 2018 Northeast High School Yearbook Staff

“La evidencia es consistente, positiva y convincente: las familias tienen una gran influencia en el rendimiento de sus hijos. Cuando las escuelas, las familias y los grupos de la comunidad trabajan juntos para apoyar el aprendizaje, los niños tienden a mejorar en la escuela, permanecer en la escuela por más tiempo y les gusta más la escuela.” Anne T.
