EARLY YEARS SHOWCASE

The early years showcase, 'Santa's Setbacks' was a wonderful display of talent and positive attitude. The showcase gave every child an opportunity to sing, dance and perform while simultaneously honing their ability to become independent and self-confident individuals.

The children performing on stage were as young as three, and each of them enjoyed their time on stage while the audience witnessed their adorable performances.

It is, platforms like these that give children the opportunity to learn and further improve themselves, make bonds and work together as a team.

This festive extravaganza left every one amazed, from the little Elves, Mr. and Mrs. Santa, the charming choir to all our little ones from the early years who put so much effort into this showcase. Well done, EYP and we definitely can’t wait to see what they have in store for us next year.

Middle Years Programme (MYP):

Students and teachers of the MYP spent the month of December immersed in completion

of the summative assessment for the second unit. Students worked diligently with

deadlines to ensure that their school tasks and projects were submitted in time. They also

enjoyed the spirit of Christmas through a variety of bake sales organized in the school and

while preparing for their end of unit celebrations.

END OF TERM CELEBRATION

The MYP end of unit celebration involved each and every student of the MYP. Students

were allowed to choose their subjects for representation and worked with the respective

subject teachers. They were allowed the liberty to choose any concept from either of the

two units and creatively represented their understanding and application through videos,

play acting, games, presentations, experiments etc. It was a joy to see the art and craft

department set up an exhibition and sale of their products through the past term. They

raised money to support their CAS ventures that are conducted in the school year. Parents

and guests enjoyed an afternoon of academic stimulation as they attended the exhibition

and interacted with the students.

MYP CAS VENTURES

The MYP students were involved in the following Community Service activities in the

month of December 2017:- 1. Adopting and watering their saplings:

In order to ensure the nurturing of the saplings planted as a joint parent- student-

teacher venture in June-July 2017, the MYP students have adopted one sapling each.

Every sapling has on it a tag with the name of a student printed on it. The students

have been sensitized about the need as well as the importance of taking care of and

protecting these saplings.

Our gardeners gave a demonstration of how to look after the saplings. After the

demo, our students practiced cleaning up the space around a tree of all the grass

and adding manure.

2. Cleaning up the banks of Manas Lake:-

The MYP students were taken to the Manas Lake on the 11th of December 2017 to

clear up the dry garbage along the banks. Our students participated very

enthusiastically and managed to fill at least two dozen garbage bags with plastics,

paper and glass that was strewn all over.

3. Campaign to reduce the use of plastic:-

After the clean-up activity, some our Grade 7 students went to the Angrewadi School

and to some of the houses in the village to convince people to reduce the use of

plastic in their daily lives. As an alternative to plastic carry bags, our students

distributed cloth bags that they had created using old T-shirts.

CAS (Creativity, Activity and Service)

“Freeing 2000 individuals of influenza for the coming year”

A student led initiative by Vidyut Ghuwalewala of Grade 12

‘Selfless service for the society’, was in my mind, in initiating and organizing a Vaccination

drive for the first time in association with Indus International School Pune.

I wrote to a prestigious institute manufacturing these vaccines and they very graciously

responded by sponsoring all of 2000 nasal vaccines (Worth Rs 17 Lakhs) for H1N1 and

seasonal Influenza. This vaccine would keep the taker flu free for a whole year.

Furthermore, I associated myself with DY Patil Medical Institute to provide for medical

practitioners as this was a prerequisite to administer the vaccines. Poona Round Table 15

and Inner Wheel Club of Pune Riverside also came forward to support this cause regarding

logistics and snacks.

The drive itself was conducted over a period of 3 days in different locations. 14th, 16th and

18th December was the days it was conducted on, in the village of Angrewadi, Samta School

and Nutan Vidyalaya respectively.

Once the Vaccines were administered, each participant was given a packet of biscuits as

well as a juice box. At any given point of time, there were at least 5-7 doctors and a few

nurses administering the vaccine and at least five volunteers from Indus itself and PRT 15.

Ashima Shrivastava (DP Coordinator) and Ms Anupriya Dhooli (CAS Coordinator) for
