If for any reason a parent is either unable or unwilling to allow their child to undertake a COVID test or provide the school with a negative result, the student is to be excluded from school for a ten day period. Additionally, the student must have been symptom free for at least 3 days before returning to school. COVID testing for students with complex health or disability Parents/Carers will need to have their child assessed by medical practitioner. Where a COVID test is not indicated, a medical certificate must be provided to the school to confirm that the student does not have symptoms that warrant a COVID Test. The certificate must also indicate that the student is able to return to the school environment. For people who are unwell with respiratory symptoms, a negative COVID test result must be achieved and sighted by the school.

Headlice As the warmer weather approaches we are noticing that the incidences of headlice are becoming more prevalent. Headlice can, not only be uncomfortable but also be quite distressing for the child if, not treated in a timely manner. Please refer to the information provided to avoid and/or treat your child/ren for headlice. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/environment/headlice/pages/default.aspx Healthy Food Choices and Staying Sun Safe As you may be aware all students eat outside with their stage group peers and it is really pleasing to see and hear the children chatting happily to one another and some making healthy food choices. Ice-packs inside insulated lunch boxes are encouraged during the warmer weather to keep food fresh and safe to eat. We also encourage children to bring healthy food choices such as fruit, vegetables, fresh sandwiches, rice or pasta etc to school and that sweet treats and chips are minimised where possible. Drinks bottles are essential as the days are warmer so please ensure that these are also clearly labelled and can close securely after use. Please ensure that your child/ren wear the correct full school uniform including a school hat and that all items are clearly labelled. It is also a good idea for all children to start applying sunscreen in the mornings before school as part of their morning routine when possible. On very warm days we ensure that the children eat in shaded areas and that everyone wears a hat while playing outside. Year 3 Check in Assessments Year 3 Check Assessments will be administered during Week 10 with Mrs White. Further information is provided on the following page. Professional Learning The staff spent Wednesday afternoon in a professional learning twilight session reflecting and drilling deep into discussion and evidence around the current school plan. This also led them to look at data and have discussions about what our school is doing well in and how can we do some things better. We are looking both inward and outward and collecting data from parents, students and staff along with other information to formulate a Situational Analysis to inform how we create our new School Plan. Cross Country We are all looking forward to an exciting and fun day next Tuesday. Children need to bring their drink bottles and remember to wear running shoes, sunscreen and your hat. Wear your house colours to show your support and have fun! End of Term Unbelievably we are at the end of term three already. The staff and students have worked very hard and no doubt are all looking forward to a wonderful holiday ahead. Term four starts for everyone (students and staff) on 12 October 2020. There is no Staff Professional Learning on the first day back in term four. The final school day for students this year will be 16 December and the final day for staff will be 17 December. We thank all the parents/ carers, students and school community for their support and kindness during this very uncertain time with COVI-19. Best wishes for a safe and relaxing holiday break. Kind Regards

Week 2 - How do you know if your family is eating enough fruit and vegetables? Our school is participating in Fruit & Veg Month 2020. This year’s theme is ‘Planet Fruit & Veg’, because eating more fruit and veg is good for us and the planet. As part of Fruit & Veg Month we’ve been sending home information each week on how to ‘up the fruit and veg’ at your place – for yourselves and the planet. So how do you know if your family is eating enough fruit and vegetables? The simplest way is to include fruit and vegetables at each meal and snack. This resource has some simple tips on how to make this happen. If you require more information on what activities our school is doing for Fruit & Veg Month, please contact the school or your child’s teacher.

Week 3 - Choose local and in season Our school is participating in Fruit & Veg Month 2020. This year’s theme is ‘Planet Fruit & Veg’, because eating more fruit and veg is good for us and the planet. As part of Fruit & Veg Month we’ve been sending home information each week on how to ‘up the fruit and veg’ at your place – for yourselves and the planet. Where possible, choose locally grown (e.g. grown in your city, town or region) and in season fruit and vegetables. They will taste better, be more nutritious, are more likely to cost less and will reduce the environmental impacts of food transport and cold storage. Take a look at this resource for tips on how to go local and in season. Read the resource and answer the survey questions to go into the running for a $20 shopping voucher. If you require more information on what activities our school is doing for Fruit & Veg Month, please contact the school or your child’s teacher. Week 4 - Reduce fruit and vegetable waste Our school is participating in Fruit & Veg Month 2020. This year’s theme is ‘Planet Fruit & Veg’, because eating more fruit and veg is good for us and the planet. As part of Fruit & Veg Month we’ve been sending home information each week on how to ‘up the fruit and veg’ at your place – for yourselves and the planet. Did you know that NSW households waste 1/3 of the fresh food (such as fruit and vegetables) they buy? Not only does this waste money it also wastes all the resources it took to grow and produce that food. And rotting food in landfill produces greenhouses gases. This resource has helpful hints on how to reduce fruit and vegetable waste, save money and help the planet. Read the resource and answer the survey questions to go into the running for a $20 shopping voucher. If you require more information on what activities our school is doing for Fruit & Veg Month, please contact the school or your child’s teacher.
