Issue 28 Term 2 - Week 8 Principal’s Message Happy 30th Birthday Bonnyrigg PS This week we are celebrating our school’s 30 th birth- day. The schools Birthday is on Sunday June 17th. Today we celebrated with party games, a magic show and a talent quest. I would like to thank Mrs Fonsec- ca, Mrs Lanzafame, Mrs Trevena and Mr Wyburn for all their hard work to organise this special day. Stage 3 Camp Stage 3 had a very successful camp at Wooglemai. The students participated in a wide variety of activi- ties organised by our teachers and everyone had a most enjoyable and rewarding time. The teachers attending reported that all students were very well behaved and enthusiastic. Congratulations and well done Stage 3! Successful camps such as this are the result of a tre- mendous amount of planning, preparation and hard work by teachers. Our staff volunteer to do this and accept the great responsibility of taking a large group of students away overnight for the benefit of our stu- dents. I am very grateful and would like to thank Mrs Nies, Mrs White, Miss Strickland, Mrs Dickson and Mr Baker for their great efforts. Zone Cross Country Our Cross Country team represented our school with pride at the recent PSSA Zone Cross Country Carni- val. Their levels of participation, enthusiasm and be- haviour were a credit to them. Very well done to all runners who attended the carnival. Thank you very much to Mr Baker, Miss Ngov and Miss Daly. Community Garden I’m sure many have noticed the development of our community garden, next to our preschool. It is looking great! We will have the official opening of the garden at 9:00 am on Thursday 21 June. Everyone is welcome to attend. Books in Homes Our last assembly for the term, on Monday 25 June, will include the presentation of the second round of books in our Books In Homes program. This term our special guest presenter is Kosta Georgiadis, who is the head presenter on the ABC’s Gardening Australia TV pro- gram. We look forward to welcoming Kosta to our school. News and Notices

Absence notes A reminder that all absences from school have to be ex-plained with a note. It is a legal requirement that children between the ages of 6 and 17 attend school each day school is open. An ex-planation must be given for all absences and teachers are required to note all explanations in their roll, which is regarded as a legal document. Could you please ensure that all absences from school are explained with a note or medical certificate. If your child is sick for longer than 2 days please call the school to inform us of this. Students who do not return a note to explain their ab-sences also do not receive a ‘perfect attendance’ ticket. These tickets are used to gain attendance certificates.

School Disco in Week 10 A school Disco will be held on Wednesday 27th June. Students can wear mufti for a gold coin donation and glow sticks will also be on sale.

Principals Awards

When students receive 5 Honour Awards they are re-warded with a Principals Award. In our assembly in week 10 we will be presenting Principals awards. Parents are always invited to assemblies, so please join us when you can.
