It’s been as busy as ever here. I was out doing a School Review on Tuesday, which gives me valuable practice and insight into the leadership and management of other schools. I’m part of a 4-school review team that looks at schools in Redditch, Bromsgrove and Evesham. St Bede’s review is next Tuesday, when two head teachers will be looking at lessons in the morning and pupils’ work in the afternoon. They will be looking at all of the books in the core subjects of RE, maths and English. They will also be looking at standards compared to pupils with Special Educational Needs, disabled pupils and pupils who are in the Pupils Premium category, which is pupils who may have been in receipt of free school meals in the last six years. I’ll be sure to make a copy of the report available for you on our website. We had our last twilight of the term last night. We have had three x 2.5 hour sessions, two of them on leading educational visits and one on attachment issues with pupils, how it affects their relationships, self-perception and learning. These sessions are essential, the Educational visits one is statutory, outside the directed time for staff. Because of this, staff will not be in school on Wednesday, 3 January 2018. So, remember, both pupils and staff return on Thursday, 4 January 2018 Have a good weekend. Mr L Roberts

DON’T FORGET
OLMC BAZAAR
THIS SATURDAY,
AT ST BEDE’S
12.00PM-4.00PM
Dear Parents and Carers
I hope you have had a good week.
So, remember, both pupils and staff return on Thursday, 4 January 2018

Year 8 Christmas Cake Project
Star of the Week
5AB Dhiyashree Easwaramoorthy for showing catholic virtues in all of her school life.
5CA Charlotte Donohoe for good contributions to discussions and for making a fantastic bus for
our class assembly!
5EO Cruz Teague for trying really hard and improving his organization over the last few
weeks. Well done.
5HA Rosie Hunton for excellent effort in English lessons.
5SH Emily Watkins for being a kind and caring member of the class, supporting her friends when
they need help.
6NW Isabella Cangiano for boundless enthusiasm when participating in form activities and for
readily helping others.
6DM Paloma Coy for her outstanding contribution to the class Mass.
6DS Emily Rymill for trying hard and contributing extra in Maths over the past few weeks.
6AW Nikolas Jasiak for always having a positive attitude.
6VSB Tatiana Kabzinska for her excellent work and effort in all her lessons.
As the festive season fast approaches the Year 8 pupils have all started to make a Christmas cake.
The cost of the project is too great for the Technology Department to fund so we ask that all Year
8 pupils bring in £3.50 for their cake.
Each cake will be made using a traditional recipe, covered in marzipan, iced and decorated. Each
cake will be gift wrapped to make a beautiful gift.
Please support us with this festive project, which is enjoyed so much by all the Year 8 classes and
send £3.50 to the Technology Department as soon as possible.
Year 7 Confirmation Evening
Year 7 Confirmation information evening has been changed to Thursday, 30 November 2017, 6pm-7pm.
It will be for all parents of Year 7 prospective Confirmandi and any Year 8 pupils who didn’t make their Confirmation last academic year.
Numbers of additional family members need to be limited as we can only safely accommodate 150 people in the Hall.

SATs Booster Sessions
NO DOGS
ALLOWED ON
SCHOOL SITE
AT ANY TIME
On Monday, 13 November 2017, we began SATs Booster Sessions for targeted Year 6 pupils, before and after school.
Your child should have received a letter, and you should have received a text message, informing them of the time and place for their intervention. Children have been selected based on their October SATs scores and it is not for the whole year group, although we will review interventions in the new year.
Last year we tried these extra interventions for the first time and, of the pupils who attended regularly, 86% passed the SATs test they were targeted for. The impact of this is clear and we would encourage all pupils invited to interventions to attend.
Morning interventions run from 8:15am – 8:45am, after school interventions run from 3:40pm – 4:10pm to allow pupils to have a break.
Starting Thursday, 7 December until Wednesday, 13 December, our Library is holding a Scholastic Book Fair ( www.scholastic.co.uk ) Pupils will be able to PURCHASE a variety of books by popular authors and variety of age groups, and stationery (pens, pencils, sharpeners, posters, etc.) - pupils will visit the Book Fair during their Library lesson and can also visit during lunchtimes (except Thursday).
Cash payment only is required for items bought.
Great ideas for Christmas gifts!!
Scholastic Book Fair
Mr Stenning would like to hear from anyone that might have any boxing gloves that they do not use anymore and would be happy to donate to school for use in PE lessons and Thrive sessions.
If you know of anyone who may be able to help please let him know .
This week saw the start of the year 8 boys basketball games in the high school league. The boys played really well and against stronger and taller opposition looked like they belonged there. The boys gave it everything they had against a good Arrow Vale team but lost 22-38 in the end. I was re-ally proud of the boys as they were not expected to win but surpassed our expectations and it was only the first game of the season! Well done to Jim who scored the most baskets and to the rest of the team Lewis, Tom, Leo, Hassan, George and Owen who all played really well!
Under 13 Girls Hockey team played in a County Hockey Tournament at The Royal Worcester Grammar School on Tuesday, 21 November and came in Bronze Medal position. The team, led by captain Phoebe Kershaw was; Grace Baker, Codie Holland, Eadie-Mae Houghton–Court, Rosie Mills, Erin (Bruiser ) Woods, Sophie Butler, Kinga Greda, Hirah Nisar, Hollie Tapscott and Connie Dodd.
The team performed extremely well against very tough opposition; RGS, The Chase High School, Chantry High School, Bromsgrove School, Kings High School and Malvern College. I am so proud of all the girls who really enjoyed the experience.
A special mention must go to Erin’s Grandparents, Mr And Mrs Brennan, who braved the cold and made the long journey to support us.
