Transportable classrooms removal The school has recently been notified by the Department of Education that they will be removing 4 transportable classrooms (2 Early Childhood, 2 general purpose) to locate at other schools experiencing rapid growth in student numbers. These buildings will be removed some time during Semester 2. The removal of these buildings means that we will need to relocate a number of our programs. Where a program is relocated, we will endeavour to do this in a manner that does not impact upon student learning. Filtration System The school is currently having a filtration system installed to our reticulation network. The system will filter out the rust and impurities that exist in our bore water supply, and will improve the quality of water available to be used on our grounds. The system includes a settling pond, which will be fully fixed to prevent unauthorised access. The filtration system will be fully operational in time for warmer weather, and will greatly assist with our grounds improvement program. ‘Peace Child’ Congratulations to all students, parents and staff who have been involved in the production of ‘The Peace Child’. Six months of hard work and preparation reached fruition yesterday with performances, and the pre-show nerves of all involved disappeared as the euphoria of performing live is over. The production has been a massive undertaking for all those involved, especially Mr Snelling and Mr Robinson, with the end result being an outstanding production that has been enjoyed by all who have witnessed it. Well done all. Staffing changes The following staffing changes will occur during Term3. Mr Snelling will be taking well earned Long Service Leave for the first 6 weeks of Term 3. He will be replaced in the Performing Arts program by Mrs Mayberry. Mrs Turnbull has resigned from her position with the Department of Education, effective as from the commencement of Term 3. I would like to thank her for her efforts at Dalyellup Primary School and wish her well for the future. She will be replaced in Room 6 for the remainder of the year by Mrs Jones. Principal News Term 2 Closure

What has been a very busy term closes for the vacation period at the end of the school

day on Friday 30th June. I would like to wish all students, parents and staff a very

relaxing vacation break and I hope you take the opportunity to re-charge the

batteries. School re-commences for children on Tuesday 18th July.

Student Reports Semester 1

Reports for all students were issued yesterday. I ask that all parents take the

opportunity to sit with their child and discuss their report, celebrating successes and

identifying areas for improvement in Semester 2. I also urge any parent who has a

concern about any element of the report to arrange an appointment with the teacher

to discuss. Appointments can be booked directly with the teacher or through the

office on 9795 2999.

Transportable classrooms removal

The school has recently been notified by the Department of Education that they will

be removing 4 transportable classrooms (2 Early Childhood, 2 general purpose) to

locate at other schools experiencing rapid growth in student numbers. These

buildings will be removed some time during Semester 2.

The removal of these buildings means that we will need to relocate a number of our

programs. Where a program is relocated, we will endeavour to do this in a manner

that does not impact upon student learning.

Filtration System

The school is currently having a filtration system installed to our reticulation network.

The system will filter out the rust and impurities that exist in our bore water supply,

and will improve the quality of water available to be used on our grounds. The system

includes a settling pond, which will be fully fixed to prevent unauthorised access. The

filtration system will be fully operational in time for warmer weather, and will greatly

assist with our grounds improvement program.

‘Peace Child’

Congratulations to all students, parents and staff who have been involved in the

production of ‘The Peace Child’. Six months of hard work and preparation reached

fruition yesterday with performances, and the pre-show nerves of all involved

disappeared as the euphoria of performing live is over. The production has been a

massive undertaking for all those involved, especially Mr Snelling and Mr Robinson,

with the end result being an outstanding production that has been enjoyed by all who

have witnessed it. Well done all.

Staffing changes

The following staffing changes will occur during Term3. Mr Snelling will be taking

well earned Long Service Leave for the first 6 weeks of Term 3. He will be replaced in

the Performing Arts program by Mrs Mayberry.

Mrs Turnbull has resigned from her position with the Department of Education,

effective as from the commencement of Term 3. I would like to thank her for her

efforts at Dalyellup Primary School and wish her well for the future. She will be

replaced in Room 6 for the remainder of the year by Mrs Jones.

ARRIVAL OF STUDENTS TO SCHOOL

The school is noticing a number of children are arriving to school after the first bell. It is important that students arrive by 8.45am otherwise they are unable to prepare themselves both

physically and mentally for the day ahead.

Please ensure that students arrive at school no earlier than 8.30am and no later than 8.45 when the first bell goes.

SHORELINE PROJECT—INFORMATION SESSION

On Friday the 16th of June, Room 15 were lucky enough to have Anita Kelly from the Shorelines project, come and talk to us about the huge impact of rubbish on the Marine environment. Rubbish dropped at our school, ends up in the Dalyellup Lakes. Rubbish dropped anywhere else can wash into drains and end up in the ocean. Karen Taylor

This is the rubbish that the class picked up around Block 3 at Recess after Room 15 had finished their Talk with Anita!

My mother and I are currently making story book quilts for use in the library. There is nothing better than snuggling under a quilt while reading a good book. Three Dr Seuss quilts have been completed so far with many more other stories to come like the Three Little Pigs, Toy Story, Pokemon, Spot the Dog etc. Stay tuned for more wonderful quilts for library use.

STORYBOOK QUILTS BOOKWEEK

Next term we celebrate Book Week in Week 6. Dress up day and family picnic will be Friday 25 August. This year the theme is Escape to Everywhere. Children and staff will be encouraged to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. More information to follow.

The single biggest predictor of high

academic achievement and high ACT

scores is reading to children. Not flash

cards, not workbooks, not fancy

preschools, not blinking toys or computers,

but Mum or Dad taking the time every day

or night (or both!) to sit and read them

wonderful books.
