From the Principal . . . . . . . . . . . There have been a number of directives handed down to schools over the last few days. The main
areas that impact our school are shown below. Please remember to call the school if you have any
questions or concerns.
NAPLAN
All Education Ministers met last week and decided that NAPLAN will not proceed in 2020. The
NAPLAN test window was scheduled to be held from 12 to 22 May.
The decision to not proceed with NAPLAN in 2020 has been taken to assist school leaders,
teachers and support staff to focus on the wellbeing of students and continuity of education,
including online and remote learning that will take place during this time.
Schools Operation
The health advice on schools remains unchanged. Our Chief Medical Officers indicate that our
schools should remain open for education provision at this time.
The Government and Department are encouraging you to keep your child at home from Tuesday 24 March to contribute to supporting the community response to COVID-19. The school’s doors
will remain open for those students whose parents are in the essential services or who are
vulnerable. As updated expert information comes to the Department, who are in constant liaison
with NSW Health we will keep you informed of any impact on school operations.
Supporting continuity of learning for all students
Our staff have been working hard to develop a suite of learning resources and options for students
to undertake from home. The Department has developed and will continue to develop resources
and offer professional learning to help teachers with this task.
Whether your child is at school or at home, the aim is for all students to access the consistent
learning content provided by our school. This may mean sending work home, either with physical
materials or by email, or by making use of one of our online platforms at our school.
You will be contacted by your classroom teacher as work becomes available over the coming
weeks. Students will also be given usernames and passwords for Literacy and Numeracy online
programs. The cost of these will be covered by the school.
Teachers will also be basing their programs on Google Docs, however this work will also be
available from the school for those who do not have internet access. Feedback and marking of
work will be part of our structures and supports to student learning.
I encourage you to access the Learning from Home resource which provides practical advice to
parents and carers on how to best create and support a productive learning environment in the
home.
Breakfast Club
Also as part of a Department directive, our Breakfast Club will cease operation at the end of this
week. Once things settle back down again, we will recommence this service for our students.
Finally, I would like to wish all our parents, students and our community the best of health as we
enter these uncertain times. Please support each other and remember the school will continue to
