October 31st, also known as All Hallows’ Eve, is the day of reformation. This is the day Martin Luther nailed 95 theses to the door of All Saints Church in Wittenberg, Germany. What Luther intended as talking points in a scholarly discussion with church leaders became the beginning of the protest movement. That movement led to the faithful who broke from the Catholic Church being called Protestants. Fall also brings the festival of All Saints, or All Hallows’. This is a time in the church that we celebrate all of those who have gone before us to the church triumphant. This is a day to remind us that we are all connected by our baptism in Christ to one another. We are all part of one huge family of Prime Times

Pastor Matt Wiswall Fall is a time we all look forward to. The temperatures are finally in the double digits and mornings and evenings are cool. Fall is an important time in the church as well. We are all part of one huge family of
faith, and one at a time we join with others in the church triumphant. This is a very old holiday, dating back to around 610 A.D. when the Pope removed the statues of Jupiter and other pagan gods and consecrated the pantheon to “all Saints” who had died from Roman persecution in the first 300 years after Christ. Because there were so many martyrs, they could not be given individual feast days, so the Pope lumped them all together into one day. The following century Pope Gregory III changed the date to November 1...All Hallows Day. The preparation for that holy festival was All Hallows’ Eve. Later, November 2 was added to honor not just the martyrs but all Christians who have died. The superstitious of the day believed that on these two days souls in purgatory would take the forms of witches, toads or demons and haunt people who had wronged them in their lifetime. I encourage you to take some time on All Saints day to remember the saints who have touched your lives. Give thanks for them and ask how you can touch someone else in Jesus name.

PRIMETIMERS offer an opportunity to take an active role in our monthly luncheons. We would like to have different members be greeters at our monthly events. The duties would be to arrive at the luncheon a little early, greet the attendees, and have them sign in. Jim and Carol Ann Attwood were greeters for August.
PRIMETIMERS SAY THANK YOU
Thank you to all our PRIMETIMERS for your leadership and participation in our activities. Pastor Matt Wiswall for writing his column

RLC HEART QUILTERS
The RLC Heart Quilters just completed their 10th
year of sewing over 2,700 quilts for local shelters
and international relief organizations.
Sunday, September 15th the RLC Congregation
joined the Quilters in a special blessing of 109
quilts, 15 baby quilts and 3 prayer shawls; the quilts
were distributed to local shelters the following
week.
It was a humbling experience to witness the
thankful appreciation of the following recipient
organizations as we loaded their arms with
quilts: Mary Ellen’s Place, Florence Crittenton, New
Leaf, Helping Families in Transition and Phoenix
Rescue Mission.
We are grateful for the loving support we receive
from the RLC Congregation as we continue our
Outreach Mission.
Mark your calendars—Sunday, October 27th—RLC
Quilters’ Holiday and Craft Sale— be sure
to stop by and do some Christmas shopping!!!!!!
LIVING LIFE
Caroline Mapes Our living Life group will meet again October 4th at 10 o'clock. We have a wonderful group of ladies who share their stories and their hearts. Ginny, the editor of this Newsletterr, is one of our special clan. Nothing said in our gatherings leaves our group. I started this group to help others who suffered loss, but I must say it has helped me more. The courage and strength of these ladies never fails to impress me. They have learned to live a whole new lifestyle and have done so with amazing grace. I encourage anyone who has experienced a loss to come join our group. We laugh, we cry, and we give each other love and compassion. We meet once a month on the first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m in Building C, Room 1

RLC Senior Sharing By Normal Schwartz
Norma Schwartz The invitation/announcement was in last month’s article for all my fellow Seniors/Primetimers to take note of sharing some of your “spare time”—30+ minutes is all it takes!!!! Special thanks to those of you who did reach out to the Preschool the week following Grandparents’ Day by reading a story, crafting or worshipping at Thursday Chapel Time. But, please remember, the volunteer opportunities are ongoing every weekday at RLC Preschool. Need your heart “touched”? I’m not talking about the ekg’s or blood pressure tests we Seniors so frequently experience, but with the smiling response of little ones as you read them a story, help little fingers with crafting, or witness the opening of their hearts and minds to the love of Jesus at Chapel time. Chapel Time is 10:00 am every Thursday morning- no reservation needed—the doors are open and very welcoming—try it!!!! Please check your calendar and be a part of the awesome RLC Preschool effort by sharing your love, talents and time—it will touch your heart! Participation is voluntary; please contact Anita Elco, 602-971-7979, or [email protected] to schedule a time to read or “craft”. The Preschool is gated but access will be arranged.
