Destination Judo Taster – 16th to 18th

Over a three day period, Glynn Fidgeon
from Destination Judo came to carry out
taster sessions with all classes from
reception to year 6. The children loved
trying out a new sport, in a fun and
exciting way.

Chilton Primary Cross Country
Competition
In the Autumn term, all the children in key stage two took part in Chilton
Primary Schools Cross Country Competition 2014. A course was set out on the
school field and children races against other children in their class. The fastest
children were then selected to represent Chilton Primary at the Sedgefield
Sports Partnership Cross Country Competition.

School Sports Organising Crew Training –
6th October 2014
On the 6th October, four children from year 6 went to the School Sports
Organising Crew (SSOC) training at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre. They
met up with children from lots of other schools and were taught skills to
allow them to organise sporting activities in school.
SSP Cross Country Competition – 16th
October 2014On Thursday morning, children from years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took part in a cross country event running around a course at FBEC. We competed against around 400 other children from lots of different schools.
The first to race was year 3 and 4 boys. They did really well with Cameron coming 20th and Taylor B coming 21st. The next race was year 3 and 4 girls’ race. Hannah came 21st. After that, in the year 5 and 6 boys race, Jackson W came 20th, Alex came 21st, Alfie came 22nd. Finally, it was the year 5 and 6 girls’ race. We all did really well with Abigail, coming 14th and Holly coming 21st.

Chilton Primary Sports Hall Athletics
Competition
During one of their PE lessons this term, Children in year 5 and 6 took
part in four different events. The children participated in a standing
long jump, chest pass, javelin throw and a sprint competition. The
children with the best all round results were selected to represent
Chilton Primary School in the SSP Sports Hall Athletics Competition later
that term.
SSP Sports Hall Athletics – 4th November
2014
Yesterday, on 4th November, we were chose to represent our
school at the Schools Hall Athletics Competition. This was held at
Aycliffe Leisure Centre.
Whilst there, we competed in a series of events such as: sprint
races, obstacle races, a chest pass, vertical jump, standing long
jump, soft javelin throw, triple jump and a speed bounce.
SSP Sports Hall Athletics – 4th November
2014In the end, we found out that we came second out
of 7 teams. When we found out the results, we
also found out that we will be going to the finals
on 25th November and compete against other
schools. We were very happy with how well we
had done.

Basketball Taster – 20th November 2014
On the 20th November, two basketball
players from Durham Wildcats came to
work with children in year 5. The
children developed a range of skills
through fun and exciting games and
activities, and have a thoroughly
enjoyable morning.
SSP Sports Hall Athletics Finals – 25th
November 2014On the afternoon of the 26th of November, we went to the Sports Hall
Athletics Finals at Sunnydale Leisure Centre. When we were there,
we completed in events such as: javelin, speed bounce, relays and
many more exciting races. There were six school completing
including: Sedgefield Primary, Vain Road, Hardwick Close and
Thornhill.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were extremely proud as it was
the first time competing in this sort of event.
After taking part in both the semi-finals and finals we ended up being
placed 6th out of around 40 schools.

year 5 and 6 took part in the first part
of the SSP Football League Programme.
