Introduction Educationisnotsolelypresentintheclassroom,therearemanypossibilitiestofurthereducateandlearnoutsideofschoolinnewandexcitingenvironments.BecauseofthattheknowledgerallyesatEuropa-Parkofferpupilsthechancetodevelopalifelonginteresttolearn,byintroducingthemtoeducationalfactsinafunandinnovativeway.Alongwiththeirfriends,childrenhavetheopportunitytolearnmanyinterestingfactsaboutEuropeitself.Knowledgerallyes,asaneducationalactivity,haveestablishedthemselvesoverthepastyearstobeverypopularamongststudentsandteachers.
Theaimsofthislearningmethod:
• Holisticlearning,thatincorporatesallsenses,supportsthelearningprocessandtakesintoaccount differentinterests• Rallyesprovokekeyskillsincludingindependence,responsibilityandconscientiousness• Workinginsmallgroupsencouragesstudents,aswellasteachers,totakeonnewroles
Onaverage,dependingontheageoftheparticipant,arallyetakesbetweenoneandahalfandtwohours.Therallyestakeplaceinarestrictedareaintheparkandthepathisclearlydescribedontheactivitysheets.Thedistancesbetweenthedifferentstationsareplannedinsuchaway,thattheindividualgroupswon’thavetointerferewithothers’answersorothers’progressalongtheway.
Organisation Thestudentsshouldformgroupsofatleastthreeandatmostfivepersons.Theagesandabilitiesofthechildrenshouldalsobekeptinmind,sothatnoteamshaveanunfairadvantage.Thegroupscanbe,butbynomeanshavetobe,accompaniedbyaguardian,teacherorparent.
Itcanbeusefultopositionaguardianatoneortwostations,sothattheycanrespondtoanystudent’squestions.Thestudentsshouldalsobeinformedatthebeginningoftherallyethatweaskthemtobehaveinapoliteandrespectfulmannertowardsotherparkvisitors.

Healthandsafetyadviceshouldbegivenanditshouldbenotedthattheadviceoftheparkstaffhasbeconsideredandfollowedatalltimes.Itmayalsobeusefultocompareandcheckwatchtimesbeforesettingoff.
Theindividualteamswillthenbesentoffinatimeframeofaboutfivetotenminutesbetweenthegroups.Ifparentsdoaccompanythechildrenontheknowledgerallye,theyshouldtakeastepbackandtrynottointerferewiththesolvingoftheactivity.Ameetingplaceandtimewillbearrangedwheretheteacherswillbewaitingforthestudents’arrivalafterthewalkthrough.Theofficialmeetingpointpillarswhichyoucanfindineverythemedareaareidealreunionplaces.Theevaluationofscorescouldalsobecarriedouthere.
Evaluation Inordertoavoidstudentsrushingfromstationtostation,youshouldensurethatyouallowplentyoftime.It’simportantnottoputtimepressureonrallyeswithchildren,astheymaynotpayasmuchattentiontodetail.Theknowledgerallyesshouldbeachievablewithoutanyproblemsin90minutes.Thehighscorewillbecalculatedaccordingtothepointsgivenaftereachactivity.Teachersmayalsowanttoawardextrapointsforspecialaccomplishments(i.e.verygoodteamwork).Theevaluationshouldtakeplacedirectlyafterthearrivalofeachteam.Thescoresofeachteam’sactivitysheetshouldbesummed-uponaparticularoverviewsheet,sothatallthescoresarealreadysummedupforthearrivalofthelastteam.
Award CeremonyTheawardceremonycanbedonestraightaftertheevaluationofthescoresoralternativelybackatschool.Ineachfolderthereisacertificatewhichcanbepresentedtothewinningteam.Theteamswhogainthefirstthreeplacescouldalsoberewardedwithadditionalprizes.
Conclusion TheknowledgerallyeshavebeendevelopedaccordingtotheeducationalprogrammesofBaden-Württemberg.Youwillthereforecomeacrossquestions,whicharecentraltotheeducationalprogramme.Ifthesequestionsaren’trecognisableinyourschoolingprogramme,theycannonethelessbelogicallysolvedthroughobservation.Thesethemescanalsobefurtherdiscussedintheclassroomandincludedinschoolwork.
WewishyouandyourstudentsalotoffunatEuropa-Parkandhopethatyouwillbeinspiredbymanynewandexcitingexperiences.
