Day 1 - Friday July 20 Our Journey Begins Inflight Meals

We have selected pick up points for you to meet our tour coach. We

will transfer to Pearson International Airport where we will check in

and board our overnight flight to Porto.

Day 2 - Saturday July 21 Porto Inflight Meals, D

Upon arrival at Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport in Porto we will be

met by Emerald Cruises and transferred to our ship, the Emerald

Radiance. We will be welcomed aboard and escorted to our

staterooms. Unpack and get acquainted with the ship. Bon Voyage!

Day 3 - Sunday July 22 Pinhao B, L, D

We shove off this morning sailing the winding turns and twists of the

Douro River - a sparsely populated area dotted with small, quaint

villages. Learn about Portuguese wines as we sail to Pinhao, one of

the richest producing areas of the world’s best port.

Day 4 - Monday July 23 Vega de Terron B, L, D

Today we visit the village of Lamego, nestled in the fertile slopes of

the Douro Valley port wine growing areas. Visit the remains of the

spectacular sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Remedies and its

hundreds of zigzagging stairs decorated with ornate friezes. Later

this afternoon we cross into Spain as we sail to Vega de Terron.

Day 5 - Tuesday July 24 Salamanca B, D

Today we sail to Salamanca, declared a World City of Culture in

2002. Home to one of the oldest universities in Europe (founded in

1218) it still a lively student town. Tapas bars can be found on every

street and traditional Spanish dancing is practiced often. The

afternoon is free time to explore this amazing city on your own

before returning to the ship for dinner and entertainment.

Day 6 - Wednesday July 25 Pocinho B, L, D

We arrive in the picturesque village of Pocinho this morning and

enjoy a tour of the Coa Valley Prehistoric Museum. This impressive

concrete structure details prehistoric stone carvings made by early

inhabitants. Return to the ship for lunch as this afternoon we sail to

Regua. We spend a special evening off the ship as we enjoy a

highlight dinner at a traditional local wine estate.

Day 7 - Thursday July 26 Regua B, L, D

We sail through the night and this morning we wake up in the Ro-

man settlement of Regua. This morning we visit the Douro Museum

which focuses on the creation of agriculture and Alto Douro wines

which were established in 1756. You may select an optional tour to

visit the Mateus Palace, the historic icon depicted on the labels of

Portugal’s famous rose wine.

Day 8 - Friday July 27 Porto B, L, D

We return to the mouth of the Douro River and the fascinating eclectic

mix of modern and ancient architecture of Porto. Today we visit the

wine caves of Vila Nova de Gaia. Discover the wine making

techniques of over 100 years ago. Vintage Port is one of the world’s

greatest fortified wines and although produced in other regions of the

world, only wines from this region can use the name “port”. Tonight

we enjoy our last evening on board with the Captain’s Farewell

dinner. This evening we say “Tchau” to the many acquaintances we

have made from all over the world in the past week.

Day 9 - Saturday July 28 Lisbon B

We say farewell to the friendly staff and crew of the Radiance as we

board our pre-arranged motor coach and transfer to the capital of

Portugal, Lisbon. This afternoon we check into our centrally located

hotel where we stay for three nights. The friendly Emerald staff will

be able to help you with plans you might like to make for tonight.

Day 10 - Sunday July 29 Lisbon B, D

Today we will enjoy a guided city with a local step on guide. In

addition to seeing all the sights that Lisbon is famous for, this tour will

help you get your bearings as you will have free time to explore this

wonderful European city on your own. Dinner is included tonight.

Day 11 - Monday July 30 Lisbon B

Prior to departing on this adventure, each participant will receive a

comprehensive companion book. Included in the book will be a

wealth of information on Lisbon that you can plan your free time here.

You will also have the services of Emerald and the hotel staff to assist

you with your plans today.

Day 12 - Tuesday July 31 Homeward Bound B

Today we make our way back to Canada. You will be advised of

luggage pick up and departure times for the airport. We will arrive at

the Lisbon airport in plenty of time to ensure a leisurely check in for

our return flight. Upon arrival back in Toronto, we have arranged for

our motor coach to transfer you back to your point of embarkation.
