About the ProductMarflow Hydronics supplies a range of Pressure Independent Control Valves or PICVs. They combine the functions of 3 different products - a differential pressure control valve, a regulating valve and a 2-port control valve - into a single multi-functional unit. Use of these valves in a commercial heating or cooling system allows comfort levels to be optimised at least cost, reducing ongoing energy consumption and improving the efficiency of the system to outstanding levels.

We are the only company that has a complete range of PIC valves and sizes. The range consists of three different types that have been designed for various applications in water distribution systems. We understand that various terminal devices require various types of controls and added performance capabilities, such as increased flushing, temperature control and Energy Management, and so we design our valves to meet the real needs of customers.

We have also pioneered new methods of commissioning to use with the valves to help speed up the process, making it easier than ever before.

Key Features & Benefits

• PICVs help eliminate the challenging problems on-site associated with sizing 2-port control valves. They have close to 100% control valve authority, lowering pump head (compared with traditionally designed systems) and reducing energy consumption

• Reduced design time and risks due to the multifunction capability of the PICV

• Valve selection is simplified as no authority calculations are required

• Minimal commissioning time and reduced costs, allowing quicker building completion and handover and easier seasonal commissioning

• Guaranteed performance of the system and optimisation of energy usage

• Late changes to building design are easily accommodated by the multi-function capability of the PICV

Axial ValveThe Axial design valve is selected for a number of reasons, such as:• A quick turnaround is required• The BMS controller is not capable of Remote®

Commissioning• A more traditional commissioning programme is

expected• The construction programme is already set• Constant flow at the end of the circuit is required

The valve has some great features:

• The rising stem design ensures that valve stroke is maintained even when the valve is pre-set (with no loss of stroke)

• Flow rates can be adjusted and valves locked in position, even with the actuator in place

• It’s maintenance free and uni-directional; suitable for installation in either the flow or return pipework providing the flow direction arrow is correctly observed

• The valve body is manufactured in dezincification resistant brass (DZR) and is currently available in 4 sizes: DN15, DN20, DN25 and DN32

• It has a large, easy to use, black hand-wheel with integrated setting ring and locking facility, used for valve setting and flow rate adjustment

• It is actuated by means of an electromotive actuator, a thermoelectric actuator or a TRV sensor

• Test points are included in the design of the PICV for measurement of differential pressure in order to verify that the valve is operating correctly

Rotary ValveThe Rotary valve is selected for a number of reasons, such as:• The client requires enhanced flexibility for:

o Seasonal commissioningo Flexibility on room layoutso Programmable flushing routines

• Intrinsic equal percentage control is required• The BMS controller is Remote® Commissioning capable• A more engineered solution is required

The valve has some great features:

• The valve design incorporates a characterised ball, with various profiles available to suit the design flow rate, covering standard flow, low flow and very low flow requirements

• Constant pressure is maintained across the valve by the diaphragm of the differential pressure controller

• The valve has an ISO mounting pad for quick and easy installation of actuators

• It is suitable for maximum flow rates between 0.01 and 5 l/s.

• The valve body is manufactured in dezincification resistant brass (DZR) in sizes DN15, DN20, DN25 and DN32

• The valve is also available in sizes DN32, DN40 and DN50 in cast iron

• DN32 to DN50 valves incorporate flushing mode• It is maintenance free and uni-directional, suitable

for installation in either the flow or return pipework providing the flow direction arrow is correctly observedwww.marflowhydronics.co.uk

The Marflow Hydronics Range Marflow Hydronics supplies 3 different types of PICVs Axial • Rotary • Electronic

Electronic ValveMarflow Hydronics supplies the Dynamx Electronic Balancing Valve. It ensures dynamic pressure independent flow control in HVAC variable volume, cooling and heating systems.

The valve has some great features:

• As the valve monitors and measures precise information on energy flows at all levels within the system, then the primary pumps can be controlled to ensure that only the correct volume of water is delivered and distributed to each floor when required

• Operates on a MODBUS network• The valve will control flow to a desired flow set

point, irrespective of system pressure conditions, when in either an analogue or digital flow control mode

• The unit is supplied factory configured to start-up in the commissioning mode (CX-mode), which will allow the system to be flushed without a control signal being applied

• Operates on AC24 volt 50Hz power supply and power consumption is 3W typical, 9W at start-up

• Equal percentage or linear configurable valve characteristic

The Right SizeWhatever size of PICV is needed, we can help. We now supply valves sized from DN65 to DN150 in addition to our existing range.

Marflow Hydronics supplies a complete range of PICVs from ½” to 2” screwed and 65mm to 150mm flanged. Understanding that every project is different and that every customer has unique requirements, we’ve expanded our range accordingly.

We’ve also considered the longevity of our products and have ensured that the valves don’t just make installation easier, but also maintenance. The 1” to 2” valves have union connections that make removing the valves far easier. Also, the 2” valve is equivalent to 65mm, offering 5.0 l/s.
