About the Institute The Institute for Life Coach Training, (formerly Therapist University), is the first-of-its-kind training institute that specializes in training psychotherapists, psychologists, counselors and helping professionals in building a successful coaching practice. Prompted by the ever-increasing number of therapists wanting to offer coaching services to their clients, Dr. Patrick Williams, psychologist and Master Certified Coach (MCC), founded the Institute in late 1998 after completing his own advanced training at Coach University and other notables in the field. As a successful psychologist-turned-coach, Dr. Williams recognized that therapists and helping professionals are the most well-positioned professionals to transition to the world of coaching. Because therapists and helping professionals already have the requisite skills for effective coaching, he developed a training program that emphasizes the important distinctions between therapy and coaching -- and builds upon therapists’ existing skills so that they can quickly translate those skills to coaching in as little as 40 hours of tele-classes. Since its inception, the Institute has graduated hundreds of students across the US, Canada, Asia, Australia, and Europe. The program has expanded to include Advanced Coach Training, and offers a Certified Life Coach designation. The curriculum for the Foundational Coach Training is continually re-evaluated to ensure that state-of-the-art training is provided. It is approved by the International Coaching Federation (ICF) to be an Accredited Coach Training Program. For the exclusive benefit of our students and graduates, the Institute has established an online Student Center, full of valuable resources that are crucial for coaching success. Graduates of our programs also have the option of participating in once-a-month "Chats with Pat". The Foundational Coach Training is designed to facilitate/assist those therapists desiring to transition from a therapy practice to coaching in the shortest amount of time -- or who want to add coaching to their therapy practice. The Foundational Coach Training for Christian Counselors is designed to facilitate/assist people with a people-helping background to transition from a professional, pastoral or lay counseling practice to coaching in the shortest amount of time. Advanced Coach Training Courses are available to anyone who has completed 30 hours of basic coach training.

Total Life Coaching: 50+Life Lessons, Skills, and Techniques to Enhance Your Practice.....and Your Life by Dr. Patrick Williams MCC, Dr. Lloyd J. Thomas Life coaching is more than a collection of techniques and skills. It is more than something you do. Life coaching reflects who you are-it is your authentic being in action. Readers of Pat Williams's and Deborah Davis's book, Therapist as Life Coach, know Pat to be a gifted life coach and passionate teacher. Here Pat and psychologist/colleague and writer of more

than 1600 newspaper columns, Lloyd J. Thomas, build on this earlier book and share a unique insight into the coaching process, which shows you precisely how to enhance your professional practices through practical and effective life coaching. It also empowers you to change your own lives through use of the practical information and philosophy presented here. Total Life Coaching is organized into a series of 52 life lessons, and is designed to be either read cover-to-cover or dipped into, as needed, for assistance when conducting a coaching session. Keeping life's processes on the "message and lesson" level makes living and life coaching much easier and more enjoyable. Total Life Coaching guides you step-by-step through the complex process of learning and coaching these fifty important lessons. The lessons are organized into 8 sections: Creating a Personal Identity; Coaching Spirituality and Life Purpose; Coaching Communication Skills; Living Life with Integrity; Success: Clients Achieving their Potential; Coaching Cognitive Skills; Creating High-Quality Relationships; Understanding Your Past to Create a Desired Future. Total Life Coaching by Pat and Lloyd is more than just a book. It is an interactive experience in which you will find recipes for living your life more authentically, as well as master time-honored lessons that you can bring to your coaching clients [or can incorporate in your own life]. Regardless of the personal coaching techniques or skills you may have learned, you may still not be the most effective coach you can become. This book will help you move closer to that goal.

"I am a senior psychologist with an extensive background in forensic and cognitive-behavioral therapy. After reading Patrick's book on Coaching for Psychologist's I was so impressed that I telephoned him to tell him how excited I was about the information he conveyed. He suggested that I attend the summer workshop in Eastham, Ma. From the first day to the fifth day, Dr. Williams was superb in his presentation, organization and content of materials. Everything he demonstrated was practical and useful for any of us attending who needed to begin this 'new approach'. Attendees who had been coaching for a few years told me they too found the workshop extremely helpful and original. I cannot feel more positive. I hated to see the workshop end. As I continue my work, my marketing, I frequently think of him and his sage advice." Dr. Lorraine Wincor, Psy.D.
