ripple (波紋) Solo Show by AYUMI ADACHI 25.08 - 17.09.2017 Opening reception 25.08.2017 (Fri) 18:30-21:00
Artouch Gallery is pleased to present “Ripple”, the solo exhibition of Japanese artist AYUMI ADACHI who based in Hong Kong since 1996.
The new collection including both paintings and sculptures is a further development of huge installation artwork (bubble cells figured in white wires) following two exhibitions ” 0.013 Seconds” and “Influence” in 2015 and 2016 respectively. In this project, AYUMI is enlightened by the movement of ripples, varying colors of sky and water, as well as the tree growth rings expressing the Buddhist doctrines. :
Impermanence. Water ripples develop in a form of movement symbolizing things in a state of flux through the endless life circle in our world.
Such an endless life circle happens in the multiple of numerous 0.013 seconds. The repeating circle of transmigration from birth, death, and rebirth till it comes to 4.320 million years of prolonged life.
Notes:
[Ksana = 0.013 seconds] is a Buddhist concept, i.e. Sanskrit “Ksana” explaining an idea of a moment (a very short acceleration time). And, this conscious of humans recurring “ Born, Live, Die” cycle loop occurs in one Ksana which is 0.013 seconds only.
[Kalpa =4.320 million years] also comes from the concept of Hindu and Buddhist cosmology explaining an idea of a relatively long period of time (by human calculation). Generally speaking, a Kalpa is the period of time between the creation and recreation of the universe which equals to 4.32 billion years.
0.013 Seconds, is the art exhibition held in 31 JUL ~15 AUG 2015 at PubArt Gallery.
Influence, is the art exhibition developed from 0.013 Seconds and held in 19 FEB ~ 6 MAR 2016 at Floating Project.
