One Step Ahead Press Release Page 1 of 2 New ISSA catalogue ShipServ enabled 21 Mar 2002 Page 1 of 2 Catalogue – completely revised The International Ship Suppliers Association (ISSA) today published the latest edition of its Ships Stores Catalogue. It comes in both hardback and CD form, both of which have been completely revised. Although this is not the first time that it has been published on CD, ISSA has had ShipServ, its preferred e-commerce partner, redesign and upgrade the CD version. While retaining the standard ISSA seven digit codes, the rest of the hardback catalogue has been completely revised with more information, a revised index with better descriptions and new sections, e.g. on safety products making it easy to find products necessary to comply with the ISM code. For the first time many items on the CD are illustrated. ShipServ empowers the catalogue ShipServ has made the CD catalogue easy to use and has integrated it with its on board requisition generator, ShipLink Lite, which is bundled for free on the CD and acts as a “shopping cart” for the catalogue. Ships’ crew can find any one of 35,000 items in seconds and then easily add it to a requisition, building up many line items very quickly. This integration also improves accuracy and helps the supplier to deliver the product that the ship wants, saving time and money. Purchasing managers and suppliers will also find the two products useful as the documents produced can be used as the basis for requests for quotes, quotations or orders. ShipLInk makes catalogue e- commerce ready Although the Lite version of ShipLink is not directly integrated with TradeNet, ShipServ's trading platform/network, it can be upgraded to the full Standard version of ShipLink without any further installation. The User has only to enter a simple code making it very easy for ShipServ to join ships to its system if they are using the ISSA catalogue. The CD comes with two simple tutorials so that a user can learn how to use the two products in ten minutes. There is a third tour which explains how ship supply management e-commerce works and in particular how ShipServ’s products assist these processes without changing long established buyer and supplier relationships.
