~ President's Message ~~ President's Message ~Dear Fellow
Metalsmiths...As you are aware, on March 13th the MASSC board voted
tosuspend all Spring programming until further notice. We arenot
certain when it will be safe to resume our usual events.
The Jewelry District Tour was postponed, the date is TBA.
TheMetals Challenge Luncheon is postponed, date TBA.The Metals
Challenge Deadline for submissions has beenextended to May
26th-29th. For more information or for anyquestions please email
Ketarah Shaffer
It’s very possible that our Summer Mixer will also be
cancelledfor the year. Slowing the spread of this dangerous
diseaseshould be everybody’s top priority and we need to
especiallyprotect those who are most vulnerable.
I know that this is a trying time for all of us, as we face this
strange and unprecedentedquarantine situation. MASSC understands
the importance of keeping its members safe, and istrying to provide
what programming we can, in a virtual interface. We have begun
making all ofour Board Meetings available on ZOOM and had quite a
positive response at the past meeting. Itwas even followed by a
short twisted wire demo by myself, Angelina Ciulik, and we are
hoping toprovide more interesting and regular demonstrations and
follow-along-type workshopexperiences. We understand not everybody
is able to work from home. We are also encouraging members toZOOM
into a “Show Your Stuff” Meet’n Greet Zoom Meeting. This is a
chance to show eithersomething you are currently working on, or
something you have made in the past.
I am very excited to announcean upcoming demonstration byone of
our Board Members atLarge, Erin Proctor, on May8th at noon. Erin
will be showing us hervery fancy table-top CNCengraver. See
upcoming onlineevents below.
Please stay smart, healthy and safe. If we can’t see you in
person, we hope sincerely to see youduring one of our upcoming ZOOM
events!~ Angelina
