Accomplishments
Dr. Walters met with Tom and Sam regarding the proposed changes to the College’s
advising model. He then debriefed with Bev and discussed the impact on the grant.
Worked through Tom P and Edmund to create a report in Report Manager for advisors to
use (if they so desire) on a regular basis for Mediated Course Drop. It notes the student,
course dropped, reason for drop, contact information, assigned advisor, and date. If
advisors choose to use it, they could pull up their list of advisees (by date range, so could
be done daily, or weekly, or any time interval), and the advisors could then contact any
student during that time span regarding changes to their academic plan. Bev asked Monica
to discuss this at their SSTC meeting and will follow-up with her on advisor comments.
She also sent it to the liaisons and deans/asst. deans.
Followed up with Dr. Timberlake and Brandel about transitioning advisees in BIT to
faculty.
11
Goals
Dr. Walters is composing a Survey Monkey for faculty who have completed Advising
Professional Development; the survey will be released in the upcoming weeks. He is
interested in finding out what faculty might need to sustain their advising efforts.
Year 4 begins Oct. 1 as we gather information for the Annual report for Year 3.
Bev will be gathering input from liaisons on what works, what could improve, and
overall opinion of how advising has been going in the last 3 years. This is in preparation
for the upcoming annual report.
The Evaluation Committee will be meeting in October.
The Deans are being asked for referrals for the next round of Faculty Advising Professional
Development. Bev will be notifying them shortly for possible dates to participate (Dec. or
Jan.)
Continue to monitor Mediated Course Drops and the documentation of those advising
sessions in Advisor Trac.
Good News

Manufacturing Coalition (RMC) has coordinated a two-day event for Manufacturing Day in
which students travel to companies to get a better understanding of the career opportunities in
manufacturing. This year, the event has grown to include 1,154 local high school

awarded $297,589 for FY 19 Choose Ohio First Scholarships. This is about $99,000 more

In awarding scholarships, the first priority should be for scholars awarded Choose Ohio First
funding in the previous academic year (FY 18). Once continuing scholars awards are assured,
North Central State College may enroll a new Choose Ohio First cohort in 2018-2019. These
