1 2014 Issue 7 www.poinsettiapainters.com July 2014 The Poinsettia Painters of Ventura County Chapter of the Society of Decorative Painters President’s Message – July 2014 Well if you blinked more than twice as I did, you may have missed it too – the first half of this year is just gone! As time goes speeding by, I hope you will take advantage of the many painting opportunities we have coming up. We have the Candle Light Santa in July, a MYSTERY Paint-In in August, a whim- sical fall project in September, and two days with Sandy Aubuchon in October. Be sure to register with Karen Lewis as soon as possible so you don’t miss anything. I would like to offer a special thank you to Terrie Busse for opening her home to the chapter for our June party. Terrie is such a gracious hostess. Liz and Mona had lots of prizes for the raffle and sold a lot of tickets. Jeanne painted “Flower Power” nametags for everyone and also made the table favors. It was a delightful evening with friends, food, and fun. The Ventura County Fair will be opening soon. Karen has volunteered to take and pick up items entered in the competitions. Karen does have two conditions this year. She needs some help to get everything to and from the fairgrounds and you must have your completed entry form accompanying each item, you can pre-register online if that’s easier. (Last year, she spent several hours filling out forms for everyone.) Mindy has booked two demo days for us this year. She will have a sign up sheet at the meeting for volunteer painters both days. This is a wonderful way to show what we do and meet prospective new members. Please read the fair information in this newsletter. Great news! – the residency requirements have been expanded this year and now include the entire Western San Fernando Valley all the way to Interstate 405. Good Luck to everyone entering. I hope you bring home even more ribbons than last year. Mona and Liz have planned a “Christmas in July” project this month. So, please plan to attend and don’t forget to bring your fair entries if you want Karen to deliver them for you. Happy Summer! Carol
