Kolb (1975) views learning as an integrated process with each aspect of his cycle being needed to support and feed into the next stage.

Kolb also enable the cycle to be entered into at any stage, therefore follow through the sequence of stages with the same outcome at the end of the cycle.

However, for the cycle to work effectively all 4 sections of the cycle need to be completed.

Effective learning is seen when a person progresses through a cycle of four stages:

(1)having a concrete experience(2)observation of and reflection on that

experience which leads to (3)thirdly the formation of analysis and

conclusions which are then..(4)Lastly used to test suggestion for future

situations therefore resulting in new experiences learnt.

Wang –studying an Accountancy programme

Fails exam Needs to know where he is going wrong Cannot access the information as to where he went wrong’ so therefore

cannot change his behaviour If Wang was able to use Kolb’s theory he

would more than likely pass his exam.

“There are two goals in the experiential learning process. One is to learn the

specifics of a particular subject, and the other is to learn about one’s own

learning process.“
