QUOTES“In a sport that can be defined by to-the-max training, Brendan Hansen might be the

hardest worker in the land. He loves to race. He loves competition, anywhere and everywhere. That burning desire, coupled with his athletic gifts, explains

why Brendan Hansen is the fastest breaststroker in history.”“Hansen, a native of Pennsylvania and a graduate of University of Texas, knows one speed: fifth gear. Whether in a competition atmosphere or in practice, he

goes all out.”“Hansen’s competitive desire is so intense, Reese has-at-times-been forced to

tone him down.”

CHARITYHe is the spokesperson for the Leukemia Research Foundation, he

participates in hospital visits, fundraisers, and youth swim clinics to raise money for the foundation.

Hansen Recently took part in a fundraiser to raise awareness of leukemia and brightened the days of several young children fighting it. “I’ve been

lucky enough to have been given a talent to do something I love at a high level. These kids have to go through the pain of getting a spinal tap

every week. I’m not going to complain about going through a hard practice or getting sick in Melbourne. The kids I visit in the hospital have

so much courage and heart. When I visit, they look up to me. But it’s the other way around. I see them as my inspiration.”
