• The main blood vessels that are connected to the heart are arteries, veins, capillaries.

Page 3: Presentation1

•The functions of the arteries is to carry oxygen and nutrient rich in blood away from the heart and supplying it to the rest of the body .•The veins carry deoxygenated blood from the tissues back to the heart.

Capillaries helps us to release excess heat. They are so thin that blood cells can pass

through them in a single file

Page 5: Presentation1

Blood helps to transport oxygen from lungs to body tissue and carbon dioxide from body tissue to lungs.

Plasma constitutes 55% of blood fluid and it is mostly water.Plasma circulates dissolved nutrients, such as glucose, amino acids, fatty acids and removes waste products such as carbon dioxide.

Red blood cells are the most common type of blood cell and it delivers oxygen (O2) to the body tissues via the blood flow through the circulatory system. They take up oxygen in the lungs and release it while squeezing through the body's capillaries.

White blood cells are cells of the immune system involved in defending the body against disease and foreign materials. Five different and diverse types of white blood cells exist, but they are all produced and derived from a multipotent cell in the bone marrow. The white blood cells live for about three to four days in the average human body.
