Mission Statement To provide shelter and temporary refuge to those animals that are homeless or are in need of respite from cruelty or neglect
1985◦ Peace River SPCA was established by several
animal loving people ◦ Saw the increase in homeless and abandoned
animals in the area and recognized the need for a local shelter
◦ No animal shelter in close proximity◦ Felt it was important to promote spaying and
neutering of pets
How it all began...
Find forever homes for adoptable animals Reunite lost pets with their owners Help control pet overpopulation through spaying
and neutering Educate the community about responsible animal
care Play an active role in the community Work with/for the Town of Peace River as animal
control officers and pet licensing Assist the Alberta SPCA with housing and re-homing
pets
What the PRSPCA does
From 2008 to 2013 our shelter has taken in 4582 dogs and cats
This is an average of 764 animals per year! Does not include the numerous birds,
rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hamsters, snakes, lizards and hermit crabs
Euthanasia rates have dropped significantly 48% of the animals come from the Town of
Peace River (2013)

Why a new building
1) Acquire land by donation or purchase and build new
2) Purchase a building and customize the inside/outside for our needs
