Introduction

• This presentation will be about graphic style and I will be also introducing different styles and talking about how it links to graphic styles these are the 6 different styles I will be discussing in this presentation about Colour Theory Hue Lightness/value ,Saturation ,Monochromatic ,Complimentary.

Example:

colour theory is a practical guidance to colour mixing and it has massive effect to the colour combination. Also there are categories which are primary colours secondary colour and tertiary colours . Colour has big impact on graphical style in games because it helps the users change there mood and make them feel like there inside the game and make the game look real so the users can enjoy the game.

Cell shading

• Cell shadily Toon shading is a type of non-photorealistic rendering designed to make flat computer graphics appear to be 3-D. Cel-shading is often used to mimic the style of a comic book or cartoon

• Cell-shading is one of the most important and interesting way to present a video game graphic done right, also it can make the entire production the feel of a comic book.

Page 4: Presentation outline

Cell shading

• Game one • Crackdown is a video game about

superhero's and what better way to present superhero video game then cell shading. It makes the superhero’s have life and make them look real and strong so users can have some type of connection with the game also after cel shading the superhero's it makes them look more darer and mysterious.

Page 5: Presentation outline

Cell shading• Game two• Jet Set Radio kind of inspired all

other video games, its become a cult classic in the years since. In the game you have to paint Tokyo in graffiti despite the efforts of rival gangs and aggressive law enforcement to stop you. After this game came out well we can say the world of video game graphics was never the same.

Page 6: Presentation outline

Cell shading

• Game three • Borderlands, thanks to Cel-

shading borderlands feels so real and exciting you take control of one several darkly violent comic-book characters are proceed to go on a disturbing adventure through a post apocalyptic world and these kind of games you need cel-shading to make it dark and more real so users can feel like they are actually there.

Page 7: Presentation outline

Cell shading

• The effect it has on the player experience is that it makes them feel like they actually in the game kind of surreal but its exciting and very interesting knowing you could choose this other life that we all know its not real but the way the video game come across sometimes you forget that this is a game by the way its structured.

Page 8: Presentation outline

Cell shading

• Overall most of us can agree that Cel-shading is very important in graphic game style the advantages are that it could bring feelings and excitement to the users and disadvantage would be that some games doesn’t look right when they use Cel-shading because of the type of game it is.

Exaggeration

• Exaggeration are used in games to make it look better then it actually is and it mostly works its very important to exaggerate in games to give us this feeling that its out of this world when you playing game that you know will never happen in real life gives you exciting feelings special the characters when they are exaggerate they make them look so unreal so people feel different and strong in the game.

Page 10: Presentation outline

Exaggeration• Game one resident evil is

clearly over exaggerated you can tell by the characters bodies and face, everything about the game is exaggerated, its not meant to be real anyways its about vampires and zombies when did you see zombies that are not over exaggerated because its not real so this works also the users would expect something like that when they buy a game.

Page 11: Presentation outline

Exaggeration • Game two• Afro Samurai the characters in

this video game are exaggerated from their looks to their cloths to their hair, what I mean by that the characters don’t look real there not meant to look real people buy these kind of games to feel specific way which makes them feel out of this world all the characters look unreal and kind of fake.

Page 12: Presentation outline

Exaggeration

• Game three• Battle Stadium D.O.N

characters are also exaggerate they have these big eyes and big mouths that’s unrealistic also the back grounds are exaggerated because they fight inside fire or sea or sometimes in space.

Page 13: Presentation outline

Exaggeration

• Exaggeration is very important in the game because most people play game to run away from the real world and when people do this specific style graphic and exaggerate the game makes us feel like we have power knowing are characters and real big or have big eyes or really big head and mostly is the characters that are exaggerated and where they fighting or where they go.

Page 14: Presentation outline

Exaggeration

• This graphic style has big effect on users because it makes people feel like their not in normal world anymore and that’s what game supposed help you do and it will give them this experience where they travel to another place and this graphic style is only used in some games not all games and its very important in the video game industry.

Page 15: Presentation outline

Photorealism

• Photorealism is the genre of painting based on using cameras and photographs to gather visual information and then from this creating a painting that appears to be photographic.

Page 16: Presentation outline

Photorealism• Game one • American Idol is good

example of photorealism because the artists look real they have the real judges real humans faces you can tell that they don’t look exactly like the ones you see on TV but they did good job imitating the real show because real

Page 17: Presentation outline

Photorealism• Game two • FIFA is second good example

its imitated from the real world they have the characters real faces and names they have the stadiums and everything they need to make it real, so many people would say that it looks realistic and that why people like it

Page 18: Presentation outline

Photorealism• Game three is Grand Theft

Auto V this game is one of the most known games of our generation people seem to love it and photorealism plays big part in this game because everything in this game looks so real from characters to houses to cars its meant to feel like that and make the player feel like there their In action.

Page 19: Presentation outline

Photorealism

• This has big effect on the users because it makes it looks so real and some video games players love those things that fact they could play something like FIFA that they wouldn’t do in real life photorealism helps all the video gamers to get that feeling also games like GTA which you could do anything in the city and have characters that looks so real.

Page 20: Presentation outline

Photorealism

• Overall I think its good to use photorealism in video games because some people like to play games that look real and that’s mostly older people that play those kind of games and if you realise that most games use photorealism become really successful.

Abstraction

• Abstraction is a process by which concepts are derived from the usage and classification of literal, first principles, or other methods. "An abstraction" is the product of this process—a concept that acts as a super-categorical noun for all subordinate concepts, and connects any related concepts as a group, field, or category.

• Many game players enjoy playing Abstraction games is much easier to play even doe its hard sometimes to tell what something's are, for example if there's spaceship killing car it wont look like spaceship or car it will be something totally different that’s why users like to play it.

Page 26: Presentation outline

Abstraction

• abstraction was used when the game industry started because they didn’t have the technology and the photorealism to use on games but now they do, but still some people prefer and find abstraction games easier.
