INTRODUCTION The Great pyramids are one of the greatest

creations by man. Created by the Egyptians when pharaohs

used to rule Egypt It was a result of pain and labor put in by the

Egyptians The pyramidal structure is dominant and its

stability is expressed in terms of sand dunes Pyramids were made to cater the needs of

life after death The era of interest in pyramids and its study

arose due to the fact that how did man built such a marvel using such primitive technology

PYRAMIDS :THEIR HISTORY Nearly 80 pyramids survive from ancient

Egypt on the western side of the river Nile.

It dates back to 2664-2180 BC and is found at places like Giza,Saqqara,Dashur,Meydum and Abusir

The Pyramid mainly consists of a mound of stone within which or below has a burial. Adjoining the pyramid is a temple where the last rites of the kings were performed.

Page 4: Presentation on Pyramidology

Modern-day solid-type pyramid wouldn't cost much more than a box-shaped building with a similar surface area

The larger cross section at the bottom would resist wind loads and self weight better than a box structure.

The stable shape would resist horizontal forces and well.

Page 5: Presentation on Pyramidology

A pyramid's design, with the majority of the weight closer to the ground, means that less material higher up on the pyramid will be pushing down from above: this distribution of weight allowed early civilizations to create stable monumental structures.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE PYRAMIDAL SHAPE

RECTANGULAR SHAPE CALLED

MASTABAS

MANY MASTABAS TOGETHER

CALLED STEPPED PYRAMIDS

CHANGES IN THE ANGLES WERE MADE LEADING TO THE BENT AND THEN THE TRUE PYRAMID

THE GREAT PYRAMID OF GIZEH

The pyramid at Gizeh was built by Khufu who was the son of Snefru .

It measured around 755’ at its base and a height of 481’.

It is a solid structure of 2.3 million blocks of sandstone averaging 2.5 tons each.

o Presence of passagewayso On the east side of the kufu’s

pyramid ,mortuary temple has been excavated.

CONSTRUCTION The construction was done using chisels and saws of

beaten copper were used together with mallets and wedges of wood for quarrying and finishing the soft

sand stone and limestone blocks. Transporting and placing of stones has been

accomplished by means of sledges , ropes and earthen ramps and levers

Quartz sand would have been used in grinding and polishing ,fire was necessary for working the copper tools and heating stones to crack them;

IMPORTANT FACTS The great pyramid itself contains no pharaohs

body ,no treasure chamber and no treasure. The accuracy of the great pyramid is most remarkable Base is a perfect only square The pyramids have a stone platform which is level to

some 2.5cm across a diagonal base length of 325 m. Only solid mountain could endure the pyramids

immense weight. The pyramid is located at the exact centre of the earth

land mass The reflection of the pyramid could be noticed from

the mountains of Israel and is visible from the moon too.

PYRAMIDOLOGYPyramidology is a term used, sometimes

disparagingly, to refer to various pseudoscientific speculations regarding pyramids, most often the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.

Some "pyramidologists" also concern themselves with the monumental structures of pre-Columbian America (such as Teotihuacan, the Mesoamerican Maya civilization, and the Inca of the South American Andes), and the temples of Southeast Asia.

All claims of pyramidology are regarded as pseudoscience by the scientific community at large, who regard such hypotheses as sensationalist, inaccurate and/or wholly deficient in empirical analysis and application of the scientific method.

TYPES OF PYRAMIDOLOGYThe main types of pyramidological accounts

involve one or more aspects which include:Pseudoarchaeological: varying theories that

deny the pyramids were built to serve exclusively as tombs for the Pharaohs

Numerological: Theories that the measurements of the Great Pyramid and its passages are esoterically significant, and their geometric measurements contain some encoded message.

"Pyramid power": Claims originating in the late 1960s that pyramids as geometrical shapes possess supernatural powers.

Page 14: Presentation on Pyramidology

Pyramids are geometry reduced to its simplest elements, and there's something inherently attractive about the simple structre.

But for everyday use, pyramids pose some design problems for the average person - like hanging pictures, separating rooms and arranging furniture.

It is probably not the mostefficient space for a family to live in.

Page 15: Presentation on Pyramidology

A solid pyramid would survive an earthquake roughly as well as a mountain would

Pyramid:"It's one of the best geometries," says Professor Reinhold Schuster, a structural engineer at the University of Waterloo. It consists of triangles leaning against each other, which is structurally excellent geometry."

KERALA PYRAMIDOLOGYIt is an ancient method of construction

of temples and houses Its scientific basis is recently

elucidated through extensive research centre of Leningrad university

The pyramids constructed were of the same proportion and angles that were used for temples and in the construction of naalukettu and ettukettu houses of Kerala

PYRAMID AS A NURSERY

A SEED, WHEN PRESERVED INSIDE A PYRAMID TURNS INTO A HIGH YIELDING ,FAST GERMINATING SAPLING

WATER TREATED IN THE PYRAMIDS ACTS AS HEALING AID

PEOPLE SLEEPING WITH A PYRAMID OVER THEIR HEADS NEEDED FEWER HOURS OF SLEEP

EFFECTS OF PYRAMIDTHE PYRAMID DEHYDRATES AND MUMMIFIES

THINGS ,BUT WONT PERMIT DECAY OR MOULD TO GROW

PYRAMID IS A SOURCE OF ENERGY AND POWER

CASE STUDY:OSHO COMMUNE IN PUNESituated in Pune.Principal architect was Mr Hafeez ContractorSpread over an area of 31 acres Consists of three parts namely a rectangular

structure,pyramid shaped buildings,and osho theerth

The pyramid shaped buildings are used for a living n meditation

Structurally each pyramid was conceived as a shell element resting on peripheral beams in turn resting on RC column

CONCLUSIONThe upcoming meditation centres are

bringing out the tradition long forgottenThere are a few who have broken the usual

concept to reproduce these structures for aesthetic and fanciful whims

Erecting a pyramid in the city would be unrealistic, but not unworthy

Provision of these structures as public resting places could revitalize them , help them to cope with stress at hand , release the tension and ease them
