The study bureau of SEDEP is based in Tahiti (French Polynesia), in the
middle of the Pacific Ocean. Their office is located in Arue which allow to be close to Papeete city centre. SEDEP also have offices in Paris the 17th admin arrondissement and a permanent representation in Libreville (Gabon).
Presentation of the company
SEDEP implement feasibility studies, pre-projects and projects, technical economy, assist contracting authorities, write tender documents and accomplish missions of prime contracting together with all provisions until the finish project, in the following:
• Road and marine infrastructures,
• Hydroelectricity and hydraulic,
• Energy production and transport, renewable energies,
• Architecture and industrial equipments,
• Waste treatment, recycling,
• Water production and treatment, waste water
• Environmental studies, impact studies,
• Agriculture
History
SEDEP has been created in 1980, together with MARAMA NUI, a private company specialised in production of hydro-electricity.
SEDEP has secured the complete realisation and assistance in exploitation for the entire equipment which includes several types of dams, roads and energy infrastructures, equipments and stations.
The supervision of work of those interdisciplinary projects led SEDEP to acquire human and technical means corresponding in all various domains (electro technical, network, geotechnical, topography, hydraulic, civil engineering, infrastructures, architecture, agronomy, biology, environment).
The company is composed of about 30 people, among them, 12 engineers, and several local and French partners.
Those competencies allow SEDEP to diversify in their activities:
Energy production and transport, architecture, infrastructures, network, waste treatment, recycling, water treatment, environment, industrial infrastructures and equipments.
Share ownership
SEDEP is a Polynesian SAS with a capital of 204 000 000 FCFP (1 700 000 €)
Registered in the Trade Commerce of PAPEETE under the n° 1371 B since 1980,

The equipment
The SEDEP study bureau is equipped with the newest equipment, 30 computers linked in a network with 2 servers; one is only for messages and internet associated to a router for the transfer of files by ftp protocol.
Windows 2000 and Xp Pro are the operating system
Two plotter boards, one HP 5000 allows editing the entire work with remarkable quality.
Several linked printers (black and white and laser colour), can print up to 60 pages per minute. The digital equipment is complete: from the digital camera to image editing processors and a high definition printing.
Topographic equipments and 4 wheel drive vehicles allow the accomplishment of all work in any terrains.
We use the following software:
• ARC+ for architectural plans • ARCVIEW, Geographic information system (GIS) • AUTOCAD 2000, AUTOCAD 14 et AUTOCAD LT 98, for all plans with :
- AUTOCODE topographic codification. - AUTOMAP digital mapping. - AUTOPISTE, for 2D and 3D geometric studies. - AUTOSURF for 3D topographic modelling.
• GEOMACAO 8.1 for road plans. • GIRABASE (v4.0) for calculation and modellization of round abouts. • MICROSTATION J, V8 and POWERDRAFT for realization of all plans, and its
extensions : - GEOGRAPHICS - TRIFORMA - CIVILPAK
• SLOPE/W 3.2 to calculate the stability of excavations, fillings and construction support.
• PHOTOSHOP (6.0) for photo processing. • CORELDRAW (v10) for illustrations. • DREAMWEAVER 4 internet site web creation.
Activities
The SEDEP puts its multidisciplinary teams at the service of the decision makers to assist them during the different steps which leads from an idea to the realization of a project.
Being involved until bringing to service and exploitation consulting, SEDEP assure the entire viability of a project.
Its mission can be:
• Contracting authority consulting, operations pilotage
In order to carry out his project, the prime contractor must establish specifications and his operation program with his objectives and restrains.
Then follows the complementary and impact studies, administrative paper work and necessary authorisations.
Then, he must work out the possible delays, handout and follow through tasks, control the good order of the project and the quality in all stages.
SEDEP can assist fully or partially the prime contractor in all these stages assuring a good coordination to be on schedule and respect the cost.
• Field survey ( topography, geotechnical and hydrology)
SEDEP has the competencies and equipments to acquire all data from he beginning of all project, with possibility to coordinate outside data.
• Technical studies, prime contracting
SEDEP can fully or partially realise prime contracting in the following:
• Sketch studies
• Preliminary studies
• Project
• Work contract consultancy
• Execution control
• Direct the execution of work
• Operation consultancy
• Environmental studies
The SEDEP environmental specialists have university degrees and a great Polynesian experience, they can:
• Environmental studies according to Polynesian regulations,
• Authorisations for classified installations,
• Organise meetings with communities, associations and population,
• Establish pollution and nuisance diagnostics.
• Study architectural and landscaping integration.
Using digital cameras and 3D software (CAO/DAO), SEDEP offers the ease to view and understand projects by all.
• Economic profitability studies
By studying effects on communities based on statistics and specific studies, SEDEP establish a socio economical balance sheet of the operation.
Agriculture
SEDEP has developed innovative projects in agriculture where a lot of actions still need to be done in tropical zone.
I.e.: the success of Rangiroa’s vineyard where SEDEP intervene from the beginning.
(See www.vindetahiti.pf)
Architecture
The development of Polynesia generates the need of administration buildings, offices, hotels.
The SEDEP study bureau can answer those needs in the following:
• Conception
• Realisation
• Follow through a building site
• 3D simulation and infography
Waste water
SEDEP can carry out all work in this field:
• Preliminary studies to define needs
• Project design
• Inventory of fixture and functional diagnostic
• Execution studies
• Technical assistance
• Prime contracting
• Technical and biological follow through, more particularly in receiver’s areas
Waste treatment and recycling
SEDEP’s fields of operation in wastes are:
• Conception and realisation of waste treatment units
• Waste removal diagram
• Collect set up (the one in Libreville is in service since 2002)
• Recycling and valorisation
• Audit, MODECOM analysis
• Definition studies
Water production and treatment
SEDEP’s fields of operation in water are:
• Drinkable water
• Agricultural and industrial water
Levels of operation are:
• Studies
• Inventory of fixture
• Network diagnostic and treatment installations
• Directing diagram
• Prime contracting
• Contracting authority assistance
Energy
SEDEP can provide its competencies in many energy fields
• Hydroelectric energy
• Thermal energy
• Other renewable energies (wind farms, wave’s conversion, biomass…)
SEDEP has ensured the prime contracting of the entire hydro electrical program of Tahiti which produces about 40% of the total electrical energy production of the island.
Environment
SEDEP’s interventions in the environmental field are as follow:
• Impact studies
• Environmental audit
• Classified installation file realization
• Public surveys
SEDEP’s good knowledge of Tahiti allows a pragmatic approach of local specifications.
Infrastructure
SEDEP carries out all studies in the field of road, hydraulic and marine infrastructures.
Road infrastructures
Primary studies:
• Traffic flow
• Displacement needs analysis; multimodal approach
• Development programs definition
• Moving plan
Prime contracting and realization follow through:
• Urban work
• Inter urban links
• Art work
Hydraulic infrastructures
• Dimensioning
• Conception and dimensioning of work
• Prime contracting and building site follow through
Marine infrastructures
• Definition of needs and development program
• Concept and dimensioning of works
Network
The electrical energy production implies its transportation and distribution.
SEDEP imagine and insure the prime contracting of aerial and under ground power lines, high, mid and low voltage, their protection and inter connexion.
Topography
SEDEP Topographic services can carry out all sorts of missions:
• Ground lifting, cubic content,
• 3D modellisation
