Basic Buttons
Adding Contacts
O A contact is a person whose information is
stored in your phone, including phone
number and name.
Adding Contacts Step 1O To create a contact in your phone, first find
the “Contacts” app.
Adding Contacts Step 2
O Next, find an “Add
Contact” button.
O On the iPhone, it is in
the upper right hand
corner.
Adding Contacts Step 3
O You will be taken to a
screen where you will
be prompted to add
information in boxes
about your contact.
O Fill these boxes in.
Benefits of Contacts
O You know who is
calling you.
O It is easier for you to
call others. vs.
Calling Step 1
O Open the “Phone”
application.
Calling Step 2
O You have two
options: (1) click on
the contact you want
to call, (2) type in the
number of the
person you want to
call.
Calling Step 3
O Once you finish the
call, you can stop by
clicking the “End”
button.
Receiving Calls Step 1
O When you receive a
call, your phone will
automatically give
you a sound alert
(“ring”).
Camera/Video Step 1
O Go to the “Camera”
app.
Camera/Video Step 2
O Look at the
object/person
you want to take
a picture/video
of and click the
white or red
button in the
bottom middle of
the screen.
Camera/Video Step 3
O Once you take a
picture, send it to
someone by
clicking the
picture on the
bottom left.

O Next click on the
button on the
bottom left that
has an arrow.
Camera/Video Step 5
O Click on the
“Messaging” app
Camera/Video Step 6
O Now your photo
becomes the
body of your text
message. In the
“To” field, type in
the name of the
person you want
to send to and
then send it.
Messages
O This is the “texting” app.
O You can send short messages to other
people, similar to email.
Messages Step 1
O Open the
“Messages” app.
Messages Step 2
O You now see a list of
“conversations.”
O To start a new
message, click the
blue button on the
top left.
Messages Step 3
O In the “To” field,
enter the phone
number of the
person to send to.
O In the box next to
send, enter your
message.
Messages Step 4
O Click the “Send”
button when you are
done!
App Store
O With the “App Store” on your device, you can get many different kinds of games or puzzles for free.
O Some exciting ones include:O Sudoku
O Riddles
O Crossword Puzzles
O Word Games
O Card Games
O You can play many games with other people as well, like scrabble with your family in New York.
App Store Step 1
O Click on the “App
Store” button.

O On the “Search” tab
at the bottom, type in
whatever kind of app
you wish to find.

O Click on an individual
app you want (make
sure it says “FREE”)
and click download.

O To download an app, your iPhone/iPad will
ask you for a username and password.
O Type in the following:
username: ---
password: ---
Weather Step 1
O Click on the
“Weather” app.
Weather Step 2
O The app will show
you weather for
current time (top),
hourly (middle), and
by day (bottom).
iMovieFor iPhone and iPad
What is iMovie?
O iMovie is an app on the iPhone/iPad that
you can use to make “movies.”
O This can range from photos to videos.
O You can even add text!
iMovie App
O You should probably have the iMovie app
already downloaded on your device. If not,
ask a volunteer for help.
O It looks like this:
iMovie Step 1
O Open the app.
iMovie Step 2
O Click the “+” button.
iMovie Step 3
O Select the kind of
theme you want for
your movie.
O Leave “Theme
Music” on.
iMovie Step 4
O Press the button in
the upper right to
view your project.
O Use the bottom two
buttons to add new
video (left) or photos
(right) to your movie.
iMovie Step 5
O Move the red line at
the bottom to the place
in your movie where
you want to add new
photo/video.
O You can drag-and-drop
new photo/video to
your movie.
O The green bar is the
music in your movie.
iMovie Step 6
O Once you finish the
movie, click the
Project List button in
the bottom left
corner.
O Then, click the export
button.
