my personal experience”

Going to the top• Going to the top invariably
presupposes that you are
currently at lower level on the life
ladder or there is a particular
mountain before you that you
need/want to climb.
Thus, going to the top means
succeeding in your stay here on campus
and hence being able to go to higher
level in life or your education.
1. Know yourself
Know yourself
Know where your
interest lies
Know how to behave towards others
Know your likes &
dislikes
Know when and
how to talk
2. Set a Goal• The fastest way to fail in life is
not set clear goals.
• Set goals in the financial, physical, health, spiritual, and career areas. Your goals must incorporate the SMART techniques or else it’s just a “conversation in the park.”
• S for specific
• M for measurable
• A for attainable
• R for realistic
• T for time-bound
3. Focus• Once you have a goal, you throw
yourself, body and mind, into whatever activities are required to achieve it.
• Great achievers focus on one thing(their goal) for a long time.
• Total Focus is the key to great achievement.
• The day you lose focus, you lose your success in life.
4. Have Good Friends• Take friends who love you for
who you are
• Take friends that give constructive criticism
• Take friends who will help you physically, spiritually, socially, emotionally and financially.
• Take friends who give you good advice
• “”whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm”. Prov. 13:20
• Take friends who will not tempt you, supposing he/she is an opposite sex
“Show me your friend and I will show you your character”
• The only difference between here and there is T which is Time.
• The same time is available to all and is only the wise that makes good use of it.
• Attend all classes and on time
5. Manage your Time
• Attend all social gatherings on time
• Have time for your personal studies
“Please remember that time
wasted or lost can never be
gotten back”
• You are in no competition with any body
• Two heads are better than one
• Start or join a group discussion
• Give your result to someone in your field higher than you or your mentor
6. Teamwork Count
• See the big picture in everything you do. So much of your time is wasted dealing with the unimportant things in your lives (what that person said or did and activities which don’t add value to our lives, etc.) that you forget about the big picture.
7. Think Big
• You were put on this earth to make a difference. You make a difference for your families, your communities, your organizations, and for yourselves.
• All of your actions must be put into action with this concept in mind.
• Think a little bigger today than yesterday, and you’ll create a better future tomorrow.
• Thinking big leads to great actions.
• Thinking small leads to small results.
Think BIG!
8. Perseverance
• “Animia wie nkunimdi”
9. Help Others• Teach colleagues that come for
help from you
• Teach those at the lower level I your community
• Help others in resolving their problems
10. Lean on God• With God all things are possible.
Whatever faith you find yourself in, do well to worship your lord your God with all your might.
• Pray without ceasing
• Remember that you cannot harvest what you have not sown so don’t only worship God without studies.
• Worship Him in your small way
• Never joke with the Schools Church service
• But never just worship God without studying because you reap when you have sown.
Notes on Selection into higher level
