Features and BenefitsThe following are standardfeatures on most PrescoliteEmergency Systems:Dual Voltage:. (120 and 277VAC).Automatic Low Voltage Dis-connect: Prevents battery dam-age by not allowing the batteryto discharge too deeply.Thermal Protection: Preventsthe unit from overheatingRegulated and FilteredCharge Voltage: Allows op-timal battery charging withcontinuously monitored andfiltered voltage.

Reverse Polarity Protection:Insures proper connection ofbattery to charger.Short Circuit Protection: Allremote lampheads are fused toinsure against short circuits.Brown-out Activation: Whenthe supply voltage drops below80%, the unit will automaticallyswitch to emergency mode.AC Lockout: Prevents batteryfrom discharging unt il AC pow-er is initially applied.

Prescolits's CVS (ContinuousVerification System) emer-gency lighting line features astate-of-the-art microcontrollerwhich is programmed to contin-uously (every 1.90 seconds)verify all vital funct ions of theemergency unit. Should a prob-lem with a CVS emergency unitoccur, a red external light willflash indicating that the unitmust be serviced. Indicatorl ights within the unit pinpointthe exact problem ... charger, battery or lamp failure. In emergency situat ions it iscritical that the emergencylighting equipment functionsproperly. Prescolite's CV8emergency lighting productscontinuously verify that anysystem failure is immediatelyidentified.

In addition to identifying wheer a unit has experienced a stem failure, the CVS featurealso indicates the status of thunit. Prescolite's CVS is trulyuser friendly. Anyone presentnot just maintenance person-nel, will be able to instantly recognize that the unit requiresservicing. Once the unit isopened fo r service, the internindicator lights quickly and acurately pinpoint the specificmalfunction (see followingpages for details).

    TESTINTERVALS

The evs emergency l ighting unitsconduct tests to verify properoperation continuouslyand on 90 minute, monthlyand semi-annual intervals. Manualtests may also be performed atany time. A mal function during anyself test wil l be indicated by theexternal and internal statusindicators,

For complete informationon Prescolite's evs l ine ofemergency products, referto Prescotite catalognumber eVS-l .

1Every 1.90 Seconds .... . t he evs circuitry verifies allfunctions that are cri tical foremergency operation, The circuitchecks the charger regulator, battery connections and VOltage, lamp readiness, and Ae supply linecondition. The evs circuitry verifiesthese functions by reading theexisting value of voltages, andcompares them to storedinformation on the microcontroller. The battery connection is verif iedby switching 011the charger toconfirm i fa battery is in the circui t.Units that require service can beidentified by the external flashingred status indicator, and specificservice requirements are identifiedby internal indicators,

2Every 90 Minutes, . ,, the evs circuitry tests thebattery capacity. The battery'scapacity is diagnosed by applyinga resistive load without illuminatingthe lamps and veri fying that thevoltage of the battery is withinproper limits at the end of the load

test. This confirms that the batteryhas the capabili ty to performproperly during a power fai lure.

Every 28 Days. , ., , , t he evs Circuitry conducts af ive minute test. This test activatesthe relay and discharges thebattery, s imulat ing a power fai lure .On all uni ts/systems using lessthan 30 watts, the CVS may be fie ldset for partial or full lamp headillumination. Lamp'heads are fullyi lluminated on units/systems usingover 30 watts, This test furtherensures proper battery capacityand the unit's emergency transfercircuitry.

    4Every Six Months _. _

. the evs circuitry, as required bythe National ElectriC Code and theNational Fire ProlectionAssociation, tests the system underful l load. The evs conducts a ful l90 minute test with full illuminationof the lamp heads The tests imulates a power fai lure andverif ies the unit's operat ion to code. The instal ler has the option ofchanging the test duration to 30minutes, 60 minutes, or no test.

    5A t A ny Time ...

. . t he evs ci rcuit ry can test forproper operation. This is accomp-lished by pushing the manual testswitch that triggers a removal of ACcurrent The microcontro ller wil ldiagnose this as an Ae supply fail-ure which will cause the emer-gency lamp heads to i lluminate forfifteen minutes.

    PR-232DIAGNOSTIC INTERFACE OPTIO

The PR-232 connects directly to a localcomputer or via modem to any remotecomputer. The PR-232 has an on board rnicrocorn-puter which monitors vital status pointswithin the power system. Important statusinformation of the power system is sent toyour host computer via industry standardRS-232 port connection. Remote auto-matic system battery discharge may beperformed with regular full status reportssent to the host computer every 15 sec-onds; in the event the alarm condition isdetected, the discharge routine is auto-matically terminated. An audible warningin the PR-232 annunciates a fault condi-tion. A ll alarm limits are software adjust-able. Up to s ix branch circuits can bemonitored when using the PR-232 withan Emergency Lighting unit.

Self DiagnosticsTo receive a system that is more comprehensive than the competition, order the following options:1. VTO . Variable time delay.2. CFA - Charger failure alarm.3. EWA Early warning alarm.4. HTA - High temperature alarm.5. OMP . Digital meter panel.6. ELD . Electrolyte level detector.7. OTA Output trip alarm (use only if output breakers are requested).
