- AIRTEL ( Prepaid and Postpaid)- VODAFONE (Prepaid and Postpaid)- RELIANCE (Prepaid and Postpaid)- BSNL (Prepaid and Postpaid)- DOCOMO (Prepaid)

The comparative study here is based on the following parameters:-

- CALL RATE- MESSAGE PACK- VALUE ADDED SERVICES

The prepaid and postpaid plans are separately analyzed for each network in order to reach the average call rate any network is charging. The market share for each network is also analyzed based on a survey conducted at JIML and nearby shops. The connectivity of different networks is also analyzed on the basis of survey.

VODAFONE

Vodafone is the world's largest mobile telecommunications community, employing over 65,000 staff and with over 130 million customers. The business operates in 26 countries worldwide. Vodafone is a public limited company with listings on the London and New York stock exchanges.Global recognition of the Vodafone brand is growing as the company rolls out its identity into new markets. However, it retains local names and imagery in markets where this is essential to maintaining the trust of customers.

The marketing mix is a combination of many features that can be represented by the four Ps:

Product - features and benefits of a good or servicePlace - where the good or service can be boughtPrice - the cost of a good or servicePromotion - how customers are made aware of a good or service.

Vodafone's aim is to grow its revenue and improve its profit margin by adding value to its products and services i.e. earning more from each product sold. The 'Vodafone live!' service enables customers to use picture messaging and to download polyphonic ring tones, colour games, images and information, through an icon-driven menu.

This service will soon be further enhanced by picture messaging libraries, video clips and video telephony (seeing the person you're calling) and improving download speeds. Another service is the Vodafone Mobile Connect Card, which enables customers to access their normal business applications on a laptop when out of the office. Such services add value to the product, and high profile effective promotion will help sell these services to existing and new customers.

To help promote its image worldwide, Vodafone uses leading sports stars from high profile global sports, including David Beckham and Michael Schumacher. This Case Study concentrates on how such promotion can help to keep a leading brand at the forefront of public awareness.

DOCOMO

Tata DOCOMO is Tata Teleservices Limited's (TTSL) telecom service on the GSM platform-arising out of the Tata Group's strategic alliance with Japanese telecom major NTT DOCOMO in November 2008. Both of these are Big brand names in their respective countries; viz. Tata in India and NTT Docomo in Japan. Tokyo-based NTT DOCOMO is one of the world's leading mobile operators-in the Japanese market, the company is clearly the preferred mobile phone service provider in Japan with a 50 per cent market share.

NTT DoCoMo is a subsidiary of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT).   NTT DoCoMo’s flagship product i-mode, a continuous connected data service, has helped NTT DoCoMo achieve more than 60 percent of the mobile market share in Japan (International Telecommunication Union, 2005).   In response to the saturation of the mobile market in Japan, NTT DoCoMo is creating other revenue sources.   The forces driving the mobile telecom industry are threefold: emerging new Internet capabilities and applications, product innovation and globalization. The first driving force of new Internet applications and capabilities is a major driver of change in the mobile telecom industry.   More users are using the Internet from online shopping to online gaming. The second driving force of product innovation is affecting competition in the mobile telecom industry.   Rivals are racing to be first in introducing new mobile products or product enhancements in order to attract first-time buyers.   The third driving force of globalization is providing an alternate avenue of revenue.

Tata Docomo focuses not only on the price but also makes sure that the variety of services offered is not compromised. There are a number of tariff plans for post pay customers as well as for prepay customers. Also, many Value added services ensures that customers are not deprived of the facilities they would be using. Among the services offered are Tata Docomo Buddy net, GPRS, Caller tunes, Missed call intimation and many more.
