2- Second remotely located fire department connection will be provided according to NFPA 14, Standard for the Installation of Standpipe and Hose Systems which requires high rise buildings shall have at least two remotely located fire department connections for each zone. High-rise building is defined in NFPA 14 as "A building where the floor of an occupable storey is greater than 23 metres above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access."
3- The fire department connections will be within 45 metres of a fire hydrant.
4- The building will be serviced by no fewer than two sources of water supply from a public water system as the building is more than 84 metres high, measured between grade (as defined in the Ontario Building Code) and the ceiling level of the top storey. This should be shown on the site servicing drawings.
5- The Type G loading space of the multiresidential component will have a maximum gradient of 2% and will be constructed with minimum of 200 mm thick reinforced concrete.
6- The multi-residential component shall have a trained onsite staff member available to maneuver bins for the collection driver and also act as a flagman when the truck is reversing. In the event the on-site staff is unavailable at the time the City collection vehicle arrives at the site, the collection vehicle will leave the site and not return until the next scheduled collection day.
7- "Prior to solid waste collection services are to begin, City will be provided with a letter certified by a professional engineer that in all cases where a collection vehicle is required to drive onto or over a supported structure (such as an underground parking garage) the structure can safely support a fully loaded collection vehicle (35,000 kilograms) and conforms to the following:i. Design Code - Ontario Building Codeii. Design Load - City bulk lift vehicle in addition Building Code requirementsiii. Impact Factor - 5% for maximum vehicular speeds to 15 km/h and 30% for higher speeds.
8- If the non-residential component to also use of the type G loading spaces and if so, then the non-residential component will only schedule use of the type G loading space on different days from the collection days of the residential component to ensure that the Type G loading space will be vacant for City Waste Collection. If it is not planned for the non-residential component to use the type G loading spaces then this must also be noted.also the bins that will be used for the non-residential waste will be labeled separately from the bins for the residential waste.
