19TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS MEETING • BEYOND THE GUIDELINES 3
Welcome Message
Message from the OAG PresidentDear Colleague,
Please take a moment to look through the Preliminary Program for our AnnualGeneral Meeting and Conference scheduled for November 13 - 15, 2015.
As physicians we often work with guidelines. These are prepared by experts in our field, many of whom willbe present at the conference in November. In the ideal world the answer for every patient interactionexperience would be housed within these guidelines, but that does not reflect reality. At this conference wewill address some of the many instances we run into where guidelines do not always help us.
This year we will be looking at recent advances in therapy of Helicobacter Pylori, Upper GI Bleeding, and Upper Intestinal Endoscopic Mucosal Resection. We will be discussing Pancreatic Cysts, Hepatoma and C. DifficileInfection. What OAG conference would be complete without Brian Feagan discussing IBD?
This year the conference will be held at the new Four Seasons Hotel in Yorkville, Toronto. We trust you willfind this venue appealing. The Companion Program we will feature a trip to Holt Renfrew for a fashion showand shopping extravaganza.
Once again, the Gala on Saturday night promises to be sophisticated and entertaining. We will be celebratingthe achievements of Dr. Earle Morgan from Windsor.
On Sunday we will be treated to highlights from the St. Michael's Course. After that we will have an updatefrom QBP, QMP, get information about the exciting SEE program, and then conduct our Annual GeneralMeeting. You will then have Sunday afternoon to get some seasonal shopping done.
The Conference Organizing Committee has worked hard to put this conference together for you. We lookforward to seeing you in Toronto.
Warm regards,
ONTARIO ASSOCIATION OF GASTROENTEROLOGY
Iain MurrayIain Murray, MD CM, FRCPCPresident, OAG

Welcome Message
Message from the Conference ChairDear Colleague,
The Organizing Committee for the OAG Annual Conference is very excited to bring you the19th Annual Conference. This year we have moved the venue to the beautiful new Four
Seasons Hotel in Toronto.
We have worked hard to put together an excellent scientific program for Saturday and Sunday. The theme of thisyear’s Conference is “Beyond the Guidelines in GI Practice.” The Committee has put together a fantastic list ofclinically relevant topics to be presented by expert physicians in their fields. We have complied a list of Upper GI,hepatobiliary and Lower GI Disorders that often arise in practice but for which there are not always standardguidelines to help us in practice. I am sure you will find the speakers and topics most informative and educational. We have provided ample time for questions and discussions to engage our member audience.
Our Sunday session will lead off with the ever so popular “Pearls from the St. Mike’s Therapeutic EndoscopyCourse.” This will be followed by the OMA Section of Gastroenterology Annual General Meeting lead by ourPresident, Dr. Iain Murray. We will then have updates on the QBP and QMP programs from the respective clinicalleads. Lastly we shall have our AGM of members. We look forward to your valuable input to direct the OAG Boardof Directors for the upcoming year.
Meeting and interacting with friends and colleagues is also an important component of the conference. We haveagain planned an informal Welcome Dinner on Friday with a theme based on the “Pan American Games”. OurSaturday night Gala will be themed “A Evening in Paris”. On both evenings we look forward to sumptuous mealsprovided by the award winning Chef at the Four Seasons Hotel. We shall honour Dr. Earle Morgan with the annualOAG Distinguished Service Award and dance the night away to a great live band, making the Gala enjoyable for all.
Our Association and our Conferences could not exist without the generous and unrestricted support from all ourpartners and sponsors. We thank our partners and sponsors and encourage you all to interact with them throughoutthe Conference.
The Organizing Committee looks forward to seeing you at the Conference.
Best regards,
Imran RasulImran Rasul, MD, FRCPCConference Chair and Treasurer
