2. INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT / BACKGROUND INFORMATION
2.1. Identification of Project and Project Proponent.
Name of the Project:
M/s Gupta Stone.
Project Proponent: Umesh Kumar Gupta.
The details of the project proponent and project are given below:
Name of Applicant Umesh Kumar Gupta
Mineral Stone for making Gitti
Lease Area (Hectare) 1.000 Hectare
Village Bhitghara
Patwari Halka Number 26
Khasra Number / Compartment No’ 907/1.
Tehsil Bagicha
District Jashpur
State Chhattisgarh
Ownership Government Land
Status of Project Existing
2.2. Brief Description of Nature of the Project.
The project is a very small project of Stone for making Gitti of minor mineral
in area 1.000 Hectare. The mining is proposed in Government land in village
7
Bhitghara. This project will produce 10,350 Ton stone for making Gitti per
annum which will be supplied to consumer for civil construction and other
infrastructural development.
2.3. Need for the Project and its importance to the country and region.
The project is of minor mineral Stone for making Gitti used as aggregate for
construction and building structure. It has a local market. Jashpur is a
backward developing district of Chhattisgarh. Kansabel, Tapkara, Bagicha,
Ludeg, Kunkuri and Jashpur cities located close to the mine and a lot of
construction and infrastructure development activities are in progress which
requires Crushed Stone. The demand of Crushed Stones is huge and existing
mines are not able to meet the growing demand. This project will narrow
down the demand supply gap of this important building material. Hence the
project will help in the development of the district.
2.4. Demand Supply Gap:
Jashpur is a developing district of Chhattisgarh which is growing
exponentially, lot of industrial and infra work is in progress that requires
crushed stone, presently there is a huge gap between demand and supply.
The existing mines around Jashpur are not capable of meeting this growing
demand due to exponential growth of Jashpur. The demand is expected to
grow more in the years to come with development of Jashpur.
2.5. Demand Supply Analysis:
In Jashpur area for the development of Jashpur and Bagicha cities for
construction work Gitti is required which is brought from nearby district
which is adding extra transportation cost on construction work i.e demand is
more compared to supply. The demand in the domestic market is huge for
Gitti and Stone for making Gitti is available in abundant quantity in allotted
area and can be mined indigenously.
8
2.6. Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) Due to the Project:
The project will generate direct employment to 01 supervisor, 01 mining
mate and 20 workers and indirect employment to about 20 persons
(transportation, canteen etc.).
3. PROJECT DESCRIPTION
3.1. Type of Project (including interlinked and interdependent project, if
any)
This is a Stone for making Gitti (Minor Mineral) mining project without any
interlinked and interdependent project.
3.2. Location (map showing general location, specific location and project
boundary & project site – specific layout) with co-ordinates.
Location Map:

The detail of the area is as under:

3.3. Details of alternate sites considered and the basis of selecting the
proposed site, particularly the environmental considerations gone into
should be highlighted.
Here, no alternate site considered as the present site has sufficient reserve of
Stone for making Gitti and the site is well connected with consuming centers
through road. Further, the environmental conditions are supportive too; no
public place is present in the vicinity of the area and no river in flowing
within 1 km distance from this lease area.
3.4. Size or Magnitude of operation.
A small project of 1.000 Hectare area with proposed production of 4140 m3
per annum or 10,350 Tonne per annum.
10
3.5. Project description with process details (a schematic diagram /
Flow chart showing the project layout, components of the project etc.
should be given.
It is a small scale Crushed stone mining project. All the operations of
opencast quarrying will be manual and help of machineries like crowbar,
pickaxe, hoe, shovel, hammer, spade etc. will also be taken. Help of small
mining machineries like J.C.B. will also be taken.
Type of Explosive used / to be used – NA in this project.
Storage of explosive (like capacity and type of explosive magazine) –
NA in this project.
The lease area is 1.000 Hectare. The RL (Reduced Level) of the area is 636m –
655m above the mean sea level. All the operations of opencast quarrying will
be manual and help of machineries like crowbar, pickaxe, hoe, shovel,
hammer, spade etc. will also be taken. Help of small mining machineries like
J.C.B. will also be taken. Over burden (soil + highly weathered granitic rocks)
in the area is nearly 1m thick. This will be removed by manually or with the
help of J.C.B. and will the dumped in the periphery of the mining area.

3.6. Raw Material / Consumables Required along with estimated
quantity, likely source, marketing area of final product, mode of
transport of raw material and finished product.
No raw material is required.
12
3.7. Availability of water, its source, Energy / Power requirement and
source should be given.
Requirement of water will be about 04 KLPD (water for dust suspension,
crusher, drinking and sanitation purpose etc) which will be brought from the
proposed bore. Fuel is required for diesel operated machine and electricity is
required for crushing plant.
3.8. Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme
for their management / disposal.
In the entire quarrying operation overburden (soil + very weathered granitic
rocks) will be stacked along periphery and plantation will be done in that
area.
3.9. Selection of Dumping site:
Dump yard of 0.060 Hectare area will be to the east side of the proposed
crusher plant. Otherwise the overburden will be stacked along the periphery.
4. SITE ANALYSIS
Connectivity:
The lease area is located near Bhitghara village. The lease area covers an
area of 1.000 Hectare and is covered by the Survey of India toposheet No.
64N/9. The lease area does not fall under Reserve Forest (RF) / Protected
Forest (PF). The lease area is approachable by a network of metalled and
non-metalled roads from Kunkuri which is a prominent town on
