Canadian Winter

• Varies from freezing temperatures, biting

winds and drifting snow, to days with mild

temperatures and sunshine.

• Building, public areas are all heated

• Essential winter clothing: includes a warm

coat made of wool, down or polyester

filled, mittens or gloves, a wool hat or

earmuffs, a scarf, long underwear on

occasion, and warm winter boots that are

waterproof and lightweight.

• Valid Passport and other travel documents

• Original Letter of Acceptance from the Canadian

Institution

• Credit card(s) and Some amount of Cash

• Medical records, immunization records

• Traveller’s Cheques

Cultural Differences

• Tap water is drinking water • 911 for help or emergency • Vegetarians & Non vegetarians alert • Physical space – in supermarkets, shops, bus

stations etc • Don’t interrupt or begin paralell conversations • Don’t make assumptions on character

– Different society

• Be prepared to have your notions of gender challenged
