O Lord, you are a great and

awesome God! You always fulfillyour covenant and keep yourpromises of unfailing love tothose who love you and obey your

commands. 5But we have sinnedand done wrong. We have rebelledagainst you and scorned yourcommands. 6We have refused tolisten to your servants theprophets, who spoke on yourauthority to our kings, princes and

Lord, you are in the right; but asyou see, our faces are coveredwith shame. This is true of all of

us, including the people of Judahand Jerusalem and all Israel, scattered near and far. 8O Lord,

we and our kings, princes, andancestors are covered with shamebecause we have sinned againstyou. 9But the Lord our God is

merciful and forgiving, eventhough we have rebelled againsthim 11All Israel has turned

away, refusing to listen to you.

So now the solemn curses andjudgments written in the Law ofMoses, the servant of God, have

been poured down on us becauseof our sin. 12You have kept yourword and done to us and our

rulers exactly as you warned.Never has there been such adisaster as happened inJerusalem. 13Every curse written

in the Law of Moses has cometrue. Yet we have refused to seekmercy from the Lord our God by

    turning from our sins.

O Lord our God, you broughtlasting honor to your name byrescuing your people from Egypt

in a great display of power. But wehave sinned and are full ofwickedness. 16In view of all your

faithful mercies, Lord, please turnyour furious anger away fromyour city Jerusalem, your holymountain 17O our God, hear

your servants prayer! Listen as Iplead. For your own sake, Lord, smile again on your desolate

    sanctuary.
