Today …
A very warm Welcome to all who are
worshipping with us … especially if you
are visiting Napier or at the Cathedral
for the first time … you are invited to
join us for morning tea (or coffee!)
served at the back of the Cathedral
following the 10am service.
During the winter months, the 8.00am
Eucharist will be held in the
Resurrection Chapel (south-west corner
of the Cathedral, adjacent to the stairs to
the Gallery)
At the 10am service this morning, Dean
Ian will bless the garments knitted by
the AAW members at their monthly
‘Knit-In’, plus pyjamas purchased to be
gifted to the Napier Family Centre for
distribution to children in the
community. The AAW have also now
provided a basket and invite
parishioners to either donate wool or
knitted items, or to take wool and knit
garments (especially baby singlets or
children’s jumpers) for the needy.

Environment-Justice-Peace Network The regular EJP monthly meeting has been transferred to next Sunday due to the QB holiday weekend, and will now be held on 10th June at 3pm in the Sunday School room (through from the Parish lounge).
We offer our condolences, thoughts and
prayers to the family and friends of Keith Stichbury
who died in HB Memorial Hospital on Thursday morning; Keith’s funeral will
be held here in the Cathedral next Tuesday, 5th June, at 2pm.
We also uphold the Fairbrother family as they mourn the sudden death of
Polly (Erice’s niece); and the Baker family as they mourn the death of Jenny’s elderly mother Joyce,
in Kerikeri.
May they rest in peace and rise in glory.
Br. Graham-Michoel OSBC will be partici-pating in Refugee Week (17-24 June) and would welcome online sponsorship of his living on "refugee rations" during that time. See the OXFAM poster near the tables at the entrance for details. He also invites ex-pressions of interest in his support for Ugandan LGBTI refugees living in camps in Kenya. Vestry has agreed to this cause be-ing endorsed by the Cathedral.
The Venerable Trevor Harrison has been appointed as Acting-Dean of Taranaki Ca-thedral of St Mary, New Plymouth, from the 1st June whilst the search for a perma-nent appointment proceeds. Trevor has been serving as Archdeacon in South Ta-ranaki and is the Vicar-General for Waika-to-Taranaki Diocese; he was previously Vicar at St Augustine’s, Napier.
The Very Rev’d Dr Trevor James has an-nounced his retirement as Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral, Dunedin, with today be-ing his last Sunday in this post. The Dune-din Cathedral community will hold a for-mal farewell later in the year to acknowledge Dean Trevor’s significant ministry and contributions to the Cathe-dral and wider community during the last nine years.
Dean Ian Render and the Waiapu Cathe-dral Wardens have received the resigna-tion of the Rev’d Margaret Thompson from her role as Waiapu Cathedral Priest-Administrator, a completion date has yet to be determined.

1 These hills where the hawk flies lonely, beaches where the long surf rolls, mountains where the snows meet heaven, these are our care.
2 Pastures where the sheep graze calmly, orchards where the apples grow, gardens where the roses cluster, these are our prayer.
All are welcome to share the bread and wine of Christ’s life, or to receive a blessing - please come to the altar rails via the centre aisle and return to your seats via the side aisles (or use the ramp if necessary and take a place at the rear altar rail). Please advise an usher if you need to have communion served in your seat.
During communion, the Choir will sing:
Post-communion Sentence:
The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favour. Isaiah 61: 1-2a

The Blessing: We share notices and news

2 Forests where the tree ferns tower, rivers running strong and clear, oceans where the great whales wander, these are our care. Race meeting race as equals, justice for age-old wrong, worth for every man and woman, these are our prayer.
3 Cities where the young roam restless, lives brought to deep despair, homeless and powerless people, these are our care.
Places where the Word is spoken, hands held in serving love, faiths of our many cultures, these are our prayer.
4 All that the old world gave us, all that the new world brings, language, ideas and customs, these are our care. Life finding joy and value, faith seeking truth and light, God hear and seen in all things, this be our prayer.

1 Christ, you call us all to service,
call us all who follow you;
plant in us a deep commitment
all your work and will to do.
Fire a passion for your justice,
in us kindle love of peace;
help us heal the broken-hearted,
to the captive bring release.
2 Teach us how to work together,
brothers, sisters, side by side,
equal partners in the struggle,
in the cause of truth allied.
To each one some gift is given,
man or woman, young or old;
help us use each skill and talent
your great purpose to unfold.
