Improve competence and boost confidence of the students in dealing with day-to-day realities in the workplace; 3. Enable the students to relate concepts learned from the classroom into the workplace; 4. Introduce students to prospective employers. Definition of Terms: Practicum – is a systematic course training plan, carefully designed to transfer relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes within a designated period of time from an expert practitioner in a specific field of study or profession to a novice student who ideally has completed an academic program of study.. Student Apprentice – the student who will undergo Practicum, hereinafter referred to as the student. Practicum Adviser – the person who is in-charge to coordinate with the partner company, to supervise, guide and assess the performance of the apprentice during and after the Program, hereinafter referred to as the Adviser. Partner company – the entity where the student apprentice is deployed, hereinafter referred to as company. Mentor – an employee of the partner company who is assigned to train and oversee the student apprentice during the Program. Actual duty shall start on or before April 1, 2013. IBasic Policies

This document covers the general policy and guidelines for the College of Management and Accountancy particularly BS Accountancy, BS Accounting Technology, BSBA Marketing Management and Banking and Microfinance practicum program and will take effect A.Y. 2012-2013.

Objectives:

1. Develop and enhance further the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of students relevant to the workplace or profession;2. Definition of Terms:

Student Apprentice the student who will undergo Practicum, hereinafter referred to as the student.

Practicum Adviser the person who is in-charge to coordinate with the partner company, to supervise, guide and assess the performance of the apprentice during and after the Program, hereinafter referred to as the Adviser.

Partner company the entity where the student apprentice is deployed, hereinafter referred to as company.

Mentor an employee of the partner company who is assigned to train and oversee the student apprentice during the Program.

Actual duty shall start on or before April 1, 2013.

General Requirements:

1. Enrol in the Practicum subject;2. Attend the orientation;3. Scout for partner company;4. Create a decent email address;5. Add the group account on Facebook

Procedures and Guidelines.

1. A student must undergo two hundred forty [240] practicum hour with a minimum of four hours [4] per day. Special group/class meetings maybe required by the Adviser but this does not form part of the 240 hours.2. A student is required to attend the Practicum Orientation.3. The Adviser will provide a list of partner companies where students can perform their practicum.4. If the student wishes to take practicum in a company not in the list may scout other companies subject to the following considerations: The nature of business of the company; The location of the office; The presence of a relative, neighbor, godparent or any person who may influence the outcome of the apprentices performance at the end of the program. 5. The student should approach the Adviser in case he/she finds a company for consultation.6. The Adviser will prepare Endorsement Letter in two copies, signed by the Adviser and the Dean. The EL should be hand-carried by the student to the company for acceptance. A copy of the EL remains with the company and a copy must be returned to the Adviser. 7. The adviser must in turn coordinate and confirm with said company regarding the students acceptance to undergo practicum with them. The adviser and the companys representative should agree on the period and schedule of the students practicum.8. The student must report to the company prior to the start of the agreed period to finalize his schedule of duties.9. The students will be required to submit to the Adviser the following documents in a short brown envelope with their name [Last, First, MI] and Course/Section printed on the upper left corner before actual deployment:9.1 Apprentice Ledger [Figure 1]9.2 Resume in short bond paper, substance 209.3 Information Sheet9.4 Parental Consent 9.5 Training Agreement and Liability Waiver9.6 Performance Rating Sheet

10. The student must send to the Adviser an email with the students name as the SUBJECT. Documents 9.3, 9.4, 9.5 and 9.6 will be sent as a reply by the Adviser to the students email. It is the responsibility of the student to download, fill-out, print the said documents and secure pertinent signatures from the Dean, Adviser, parent/guardian and company authorized representative.11. The student is required to strictly adhere with the following grooming policies during the practicum as these shall form part of the evaluation process:For male and female: Wearing of school uniform and proper ID during practicum hoursFor male: No long hair [decent hairstyle] and shaved facial hair; Avoid wearing earrings and other piercingsFor female: Conservative hairstyle and make-up; Avoid wearing excessive jewelleries and fancy ornaments12. During the practicum, the student will be required to diligently prepare Weekly Task Report which contains daily record of daily tasks/responsibilities accomplished, hours rendered for the tasks and the signature of the mentor. WTR will be checked by the Adviser from time to time and will form part of the computation of grade.13. Upon completion, the student is required to obtain from the company a Certificate of Completion and his Performance Rating Sheet duly evaluated and graded. Please refer to Sample 3: Sample Forms and Documents.14. At the end of the practicum, the students will be required to submit a bounded practicum report. Please refer to

IV Practicum Report.

IIMONITORING

The Adviser will systematically track the apprentices perfomance and progress throughout the entire program by conducting random visitation from time to time.

The visitation include interviewing the trainor to monitor the outstanding characteristics or behavior of the apprentice shown as well as those that need improvement. It is also an opportunity to inquire for possible employment of the apprentice.

The entries in the Index Card [apprentice ledger] will be the reference record or basis in the evaluation process of the apprentices performance and progress at the end of the program.

IIIEvaluation

Evaluation process assessment of the achievement of the programs objectives based on outcomes manifested in the reports of the students, Advisers, and the mentor of partner companies.

GRADING SYSTEM:40%-Performance Rating Sheet [graded by the mentor]30%-Apprentice Ledger* 30%-Practicum Report100%-TOTAL

*Demerit System a deduction in percent for the following infractions:5%-Absent without notice5%-Not wearing prescribed uniform5%-Not wearing of ID5%-Failure to attend meetings.

The Practicum report will be graded as follows:

5%-Completeness5%-Appearance [Neatness]20%-Presentation [content, grammar, spelling, etc.]30%-TOTAL

IVPRACTICUM REPORT

Tentative deadline for submission of Practicum Report is on June 3, 2013.
