At a young age, his teacher sonthi venkata ramanayya asked t to sing in the assembly of musicians- he sang dorakuna - teacher was impressed and gifted him various jewels he got from thanjavur court
Next day, t's teacher took him to his father sonthi venkata subbayya in thanjavur, where he sang for 8 hours mari Mari ninne moralidudu in kambhoji.
The guests were so engrossed that they missed their appointment to go to sarabhoji king in thanjavur.
