History

It is a government-owned organization set up in 1873

Earlier best was known as TRAMWAY services.

First ltd bus were introduced in 1940 between Mahim and Colaba.

When the corporation took over the company in 1947 there were 242 buses/23 routes/2.30 lac passenger in day.
