Structure: The past simple tense

1. Affirmative :Subject+ past simple verb (- ed )or irregular verbs

Example: I liked Somchai. / She went to school yesterday. He was hungry. / They were late.

1. Most verbs we add – ed: - walk >walked, finish >finished, talk >talked

2. Verbs ending with -e, we add -d: - live >lived, love >loved, dance >danced

3. Verbs that end with a consonant -y, we change the -y to -ied: - try >tried, fry >fried, apply >applied

2. Verbs which change their vowel- get – got, sit – sat, drink –drank

Chloe: How was the concert last night, Angela?

Angela: Well, the music was great. I’ve never heard Vivaldi played so well.

The orchestra really was fantastic.Chloe: I’m glad you liked it, although I don’t enjoy classical music myself.

I think it’s rather boring.Angela: So did the people who sat behind me

last night! They chatted constantly throughout the performance.

Chloe: Oh no! What did you do?Angela: Well, I couldn’t really do anything

without making it worse. So I just turned around a couple of times and glared at them.

Chloe: Did that make any difference?Angela: No, they just continued talking

regardless. People like that shouldn’t be allowed to go to concerts.

Direction: Make a group of 5. Send a representative of each group to listen the meaning of vocabulary. Then, go back to the group and draw out the picture of it and pass to next person in the group (only 1 minute to draw out a picture for each one). The last person has to guess what word it is from the picture you draw.

Direction: Make a group of five people. Each group lines up in front of the class. Listen to a part of “Last night” audio. The first student has to listen to the audio carefully and choose a picture that match with the audio. Next student of each group has to do like the first student. (Each student will get a different audio.
