Research Stage

In the process of our research, we watched various different examples of professional Documentaries made for a wider audience on YouTube. Once we had watched all the different documentaries we began to construct our documentary by getting footage off YouTube and using it as archive footage. To do this though we had to convert the footage into an Mp3 format, we furthermore did this by using (http://keepvid.com/)

Planning

When we were planning our Media product, we used Microsoft Word as the template for our Questionnaire. We later handed out the questionnaire to the general public for our target audience on documentaries as a whole.

Once we had accumulated the results from our questionnaire we used Microsoft excel to put the results into bar charts and see which documentary was the most popular amongst the general public.

Finally, we used Microsoft word again to type up our running order and the production sheet.

More Planning

In order for us to put our storyboards on to our blogs, we had to scan them on to the computer so that the images of the storyboards could then be put on to our blogs. We also did the same process so that we could put the images of our brainstorms on to our blogs too.

Media Product Construction

To film our documentary and voice over, we used the camera, Canon XM2. In order for us to record all the footage that we filmed, we had to use Mini DV Tapes. In the process of filming we had to use a tripod and clip microphone to stabilise the camera, and then hear everything that has been said by the interviewee. We had to use headphones during this process to make sure that what everything was been said was clear and

worked to a high enough standard. Once the filming was recorded we captured it from the Mini DV Tapes to the DV capture deck. We then captured all of our footage on to a Quad Core Pc and the edited it all using a software programme called Adobe premiere. The same editing process was used in the construction of our radio advert. But it was different when we were constructing our poster. When producing our poster we used a ___________ camera, then edited it on Photoshop. We then used http://www.dafont.com/ to choose the specific font we wanted to use as the one advertising our product.

We also used a microphone when we were constructing our radio advert and documentary, So Josh and Joel (the narrators) could obviously speak into it.

Evaluation Questions 1-2

For my Evaluation questions 1 and 2 we filmed our specific answers using a Samsung 5X camera, during the recording process we also used a tripod to stabilise the camera in the attempt we would get the best quality of picture possible. During the production of our evaluation question we connected a Quad Core Pc to a projector so we could commentate over the video whilst the camera was recording. Once we had finished recording, we used Windows Movie Maker to edit out the minor mistakes in our production, then uploaded the two videos on YouTube so that we could then put the videos on to our blogs.

Evaluation Question 3

For our third evaluation question, we asked for audience feedback on our documentary, Golden Balls. To do this we uploaded documentaries on to social networking sites, both Facebook and Twitter. We also got a student to watch our production via YouTube and for her then to E-mail us her response, in a critical assessment. I then typed up my response on Microsoft Word and copied and pasted it onto my blog.

Evaluation Question 4

For our final evaluation question, I used Microsoft PowerPoint to evaluate the construction and development of our project in producing a Documentary. During the time it took for me to produce the final answer, I took screenshots of the development of our project and then I uploaded the final piece on to our blog, but I had to do the process through Slideshare in which it converted the PowerPoint into a compatible file for it function on the internet.
