Colin
“I can confirm that the original contract was for
2 years with a review after 12 months, the review
has taken place and Dudley Market Traders have
only been awarded a 6 month extension. This
will run from January 2017 to June 2017, after
which the council will look at other options for
operating the market. The reason the market
traders have only been awarded a 6 month
contract is that the stall occupancy rates are
falling below the targets set for the traders to
achieve, they have dropped off alarmingly over
the last 12 months”.
FUTURE ACTION
1 You need to know how your Market is
performing.
2 You need to be clear about the role of the
Market.
3 You need to know what options are available.
4 NABMA needs to provide more support to its
members with information about what
arrangements have worked and what have not
worked.
5 NABMA needs to provide case studies to give
markets greater confidence in tackling this very
important issue.
