What do you think her artworks reflect?

Insanity? WRONG Her artworks reflect her interests in

world issues such as bioethics, biotechnologies, the environment,

cloning, stem cell research and gene therapy.

Page 11: Powerpoint Patricia Piccinini

Her art engages our contemporary world in all its social and political

complexity and contradiction—the destruction and preservation of the

natural world, the promises and failures of cutting edge technology, its related topic of ethical responsibility,

the allure of consumer culture, and the influence of popular culture.

As such exploring the interaction of science, technology and the

environment.

WHAT FORSTERS PICCININI’S MOTIVATION TO CREATE SUCH

‘DIFFERENT’ ARTWORKS?

By exploring concepts of what is ‘natural’ in the digital age, Piccinini brings a deeply personal perspective to her work by pursuing an interest in the human forms and its potential for manipulation and enhancement

through bio-technical intervention, a very real subject that Piccinini is quite actively passionate in; depicted

through her art.

WHAT DOES PICCININI USE TO CREATE HER ARTWORKS??

Piccinini doesn’t specialise in one specific media when creating her artworks; as such she uses a variety of

different media forms such as sculpture, video,

drawing, installation and digital prints.

So if I asked you now to create something that reflects a mix of both science, nature and

technology what could you create for me?
