• Power Line Communication is the usage of electrical power supply networks for communications purposes.
• No additional wire network .• Low cost.• Various applications.• Existing infrastructure in rural areas.
• The power line networks are not designed for Data communication.
• PLC has some impairments:– High attenuation.– Significant potential interference.– Noise which is generated from all loads
• Automatically collecting consumption, diagnostic, and status data.
• Transferring that data to a central database.• For billing, troubleshooting, and analyzing.• AMR SYSTEM COMPONENTS:– Meter Interface Module.– Communication System(PLC).– central control unit .
AMR system structure model
Simulation of a simple PLC system consists of two computers connected together by two PLC modems and one power line.
• Simulation Environment
• In spite of harsh environment of Power line channel the OFDM technique proved it’s ability to deliver data with high data rates and low error rate.
• It’s highly recommended:– To apply the concept of the smart grid to support PLC
applications and to reach more high data rates.
– To improve the security environment in PLC networks by applying reliable authentication and encryption methods.
