Roof top basics
Roofs can be differentiated by the inclination:
Flat roofs: Inclination < ca. 5 (Sometimes up to 10)
Slightly pitched roofs: Inclination 5 to 22
Pitched roofs: Inclination 22 to 45
Highly pitched roofs: Inclination > 45

Loads- Important for Stress calculation
Drainage system, calculation should be referred to the century rain*
Load increase!!!
Additional Snow load (if required!)
Already existing objects on, or under the roof are they
included in the stress load calculation ???
Already existing objects on the roof are they included in the
stress load calculation ???
7/29/2019 Power sytem photovoltic
13/48
Stress calculation is one of the most important parts in a roof top system
Additional weight has to be load on the roof, if a fixing of the structure is not possible,
On flat roofs the additional load can range from 17 kg/m to 80 kg/m
On slope roof additional 12.68 kg/m (Solarworld Sunmodule SW poly) weight +
mounting structure (1.5 to 3.5 kg/m)
Loads- Stress Calculation

Wind load
Solar systems on exposed locations need special attention!!!
pressure suction
Force acting on the Module area:
- Lift up forces
- Break over forces
- Slide forces
Force acting on the roof:- Compressive force (total of wind load
,module and mounting structure load
Loads- Stress Calculation

Wind loads
Wind loads need to be considered when planning and designing PV Systems and Structures Two types of forces that can act of structures and modules:
Suction Load (Due to wind)
Pressure load (Due to Snow)
Suction Load Pressure load
Need to ensure these values are not exceeded at the location of installation
Information to take into account:
Wind Speeds in the region
Installation height above ground level
Geography around installation Site (Urban Area, Open space, Agricultural land, Sea
side etc.)

Shading Analyses, shading shets
Height
Location: Freiburg, southern Germany(48 N)
We want that no shading occurs onnoon at the 21st of December
What angle does the sun have with thehorizon on the 21st of December? (23.5)
90- longitude-declination= sun angle
90 - 48 - 23.5 = 18.5
What is the minimum distance x toguarantee that there is no shading onnoon?
X = l * (cos + sin / tan 18.5)
In general it is always a compromise:Optimizing!
Suntool use optimize factorsx

18.5l = 1.67m

General Information Roof Hooks
Roof hooks are offered for all common tile roofs
Hooks for battens with 24 and 30 mm height are available
Every roof hook (except Universal) is available in two editions, 0 and 90, so profiles
can be mounted vertical and horizontal
Selection of the suitable roof hook is calculated by the SolarWorld Team
Part dimensioning results from the static demands of the location (Optimal roof hooks
and profiles will be chosen)

Roof Hooks General Changes
Corrugation increases the footing
Elongated holes in every roof hook
