Commissioned as HMIS Hamla on 15 Jan 1946 afterthe Second World War, the present site of Hamla waspart of the Combined Operations Training Centrearound Mumbai and was known as the Landing Craft
Wing. This site also accommodated Boys TrainingEstablishment for short duration post independence.
The establishment was re-commissioned as INSHamla on 06 Jan 1954 with the shifting of the Supplyand Secretariat School and the Cookery School from
Kochi to its present site in November 1953.
