IPPNW History

At the height of the Cold War, Dr. Bernard Lown, of the United States, & Dr. Evgueni Chazov, of the Soviet Union founded IPPNW to bridge the political divide and to educate the world about the terrible consequences of nuclear weapons.

Medical Evidence

In 1962, Drs. Victor Sidel, H. Jack Geiger, and Bernard Lown published the first major medical journal article on the medical consequences of nuclear war in The New England Journal of Medicine.

Today, IPPNW continues to publish in the world’s leading medical journals.
