OT, OTN and OTS fuses are not rejection fuses –care should be taken to ensure that replacementfuses do not have lower interrupting ratings thanoriginal fuses.
OTN 15 through 60 satisfy the Canadian electricalcode requirement for Type “P”, low melting-point,non-time delay fuses.

(Time-Delay)KRP-C–SP (600V)601 to 6000A300,000AIRCurrent LimitingUL Class L;CSA-HRC-L (200,000AIR)
The all-purpose silver linked fuse forboth overload and short-circuitprotection of high capacity systems(mains and large feeders).Time-delay(minimum of four seconds at fivetimes amp rating for close sizing).Pass harmless surge currents ofmotors, transformers, etc., withoutoverfusing and any sacrifice of short-circuit current limitation.Thecombination of LOW-PEAK dual-element time-delay fuses andLOW-PEAK KRP-C fuses isrecommended as a total systemspecification. Easily selectivelycoordinated for blackout protection.Size of upstream LOW-PEAK® fusesneed only be twice that ofdownstream LOW-PEAK® fuses (2:1ratio). LOW-PEAK® fuses can reducebus bracing; protect circuit breakerswith low interrupting ratings as wellas provide excellent overallprotection of circuits and loads.
*KRP-CL fuses have a Class L 800amp case size; and not covered byU.L. Standards.

Silverlinked fuse. Single-element unitswith no time-delay.Very fast-actingwith a high degree of currentlimitation; provide excellentcomponent protection. Particularlysuited for protection of circuitbreakers with lower interruptingratings, and non-inductive loads suchas lighting and heating circuits. Mustbe over-sized to prevent opening bythe temporary harmless over-loads. Inmotor circuits, must be sized atapproximately 300% of motor full-load current and thus will not provideoverload protection.

ApplicationAs a 300 volt branch circuit fuse, the Type SC fuse has broadgeneral application. They are ideal for fluorescent fixtures subjectto high short-circuit currents—minimize damage caused by faultyballast; isolate a problem to a single fixture. Fuses can be installedin Buss HPF type fuseholders (recognized by UL for branchcircuit protection).
TYPE EJ-1 FOR USE INDOORS OR INSIDE AN ENCLOSURE ONLYTYPE EJO-1 FOR USE INDOORS OR OUTDOORSIn the selection of current-limitingpower fuses for a particularapplication, it is important to considerall factors affecting the installation.Specifically, it is necessary to know theanticipated load current and themagnetizing inrush currents which willbe available. If problems of overloadsand the coordination of the fuse andother protective-device operatingtimes are encountered, it will benecessary to exercise caution in theselection of proper fuse ratings to
assure a properly coordinatedinstallation. Generally, the followingimportant factors should be fullyconsidered.:
• Current rating
•Voltage rating
• Frequency rating
• Location
• Mounting
• Coordination
Each of these factors, insofar as theycharacteristically apply to General
Electric power fuses, is summarized inTable I.
CURRENT RATINGSAll General Electric current-limitingpower fuses,Types EJ-1 and EJO-1, aregeneral-purpose fuses. (Function Class“g” – ANSI C37.40-3.2.2.2).
Continuous Voltage Ratings Current Ratings Interrupting Ratings
The fuse voltage rating, is permitted toexceed the system voltage by anydesired value except for limitationsimposed by the generated transientvoltage. This is important because theunique current-limiting action of thefuse is characterized by the generationof transient (50 to 500 microsecondsto peak) arc voltages above normalcircuit voltage. The maximum peak arcvoltage which can occur on GeneralElectric current-limiting power fuses atfuse-rated short-circuit current isspecified in Table II (Table 5 of ANSIStandard C37.46).
MOUNTINGSFuse SupportsMountings of the nondisconnectingtype are available. They are usedgenerally in voltage transformercircuits or where there is some otherdisconnecting or isolating device inseries with the fuse in the circuit.
Fuse DisconnectingSwitchesThese switches are also available andhave the feature of serving asdisconnecting switches to isolate theequipment which they protect.Theyare not intended to be used forbreaking load or magnetizing current.

In selecting current-limiting power fuses for a particularapplication, it is important to consider all factors affectingthe installation. Thus, it is necessary to consider not onlyanticipated load current and transformer magnetizinginrush, but also overloads and the characteristics of otherprotective devices to ensure a properly coordinatedinstallation. Generally, the following important factorsshould be fully considered:
• Current rating
•Voltage rating
• Frequency rating
• Interrupting rating
• Location
• Coordination
Each of these factors, insofar as it is characteristicallyapplies to General Electric power fuses, is brieflysummarized in Table I.
CURRENT RATINGSAll General Electric Model 9F62 current-limiting powerfuses are general purpose fuses (function class “g” –ANSI/IEEE C37.40-3.1-1981).
VOLTAGE RATINGSThe maximum peak arc voltage which can occur onGeneral Electric 9F62 current-limiting power fuses at fusemaximum-rated voltage is specified in Table II .Wire-element fuses normally produce arc voltages independentof system voltage. In the 9F62 fuse, however, where arcvoltage control is achieved by the use of notched ribbonelements, the maximum peak overvoltage is affected by thesystem voltage.
INTERRUPTING RATINGSThe interrupting rating of power fuses should equal orexceed the maximum available short-circuit duty at thepoint in the system where the fuses are to be installed.Note that the interrupting ratings for 9F62 fuses areexpressed in symmetrical amperes as opposed to theasymmetrical amperes interrupting ratings published forthe 9F60 fuses. Thus, any comparison between interruptingratings of the two designs must recognize this difference.Since system fault calculations are usually performed interms of symmetrical currents, this change in how the fuseinterrupting rating is expressed eliminates the need forconversion from asymmetrical to symmetrical values.
LOCATIONAll 9f62 fuses are designed for outdoor use and thereforemay also be used either in outdoor enclosures or indoor.
MOUNTINGFuse SupportsMountings of the nondisconnecting type are available.Theyare generally used in voltage transformer circuits, orwhere there is some other disconnecting or isolatingdevice in series with the fuse in the circuit.
When replacing a larger-diameter 9F60 fuse with asmaller-diameter 9F62 fuse, two options are available.Obviously, one option is to change the clips into which thefuse fits. The other option is to purchase a pair of adaptersto slip over the ferrules of a 2-inch diameter (C) fuse thatallow it to be used in clips intended for 3-inch diameter(D) fuses.
Fuse Disconnecting SwitchesDisconnecting switches that isolate the equipment theyprotect are also available. They are not intended to beused for breaking load or magnetizing current.
