HW III Power Control Main Changes

The difference of HW II and HW III Power Control algorithm are:

• Initial Discarded MR. number

At the initial stage of channel seizure, the MR data is considered unstable/ fluctuating. So to avoid Power Control inaccuracy, system discards some initial measurement reports.

In HWII: Discards 4 initial MR (fixed)

In HWIII: Set by parameter- Signal/Traffic Channel Discard MR Number

• MR Interpolation Method

The interpolation for lost values in the missing Measurement Reports are optimized.

In HWIII, the interpolation value is as below:

If the Rx Level value is lost, the recovered value for missing MR is taken from the last measurement report.

RxLev (MRX) = RxLev (MR1)

If Rx Quality is lost, the interpolation value is 7.

• MR Filtering

In HWIII, the receive quality is converted to carrier-to-interference (C/I). The mapping is as below:

Then the C/I and the Receive Level shall be filtered using Exponential filter and slide window.

In HW II, filtering is based on mean value filtering.
