Powel Avance DCA is a multi head end system (HES) for collection and analysis of faults and disturbances that occur in transmission and distribution grids. The system communicates with sensors and devices from a range of manufacturers through adapter technology. It manages the collection, processing, analysis and presentation of faults and disturbances on the grid.

Grid disturbance and fault information managementUtilities are introducing Powel Avance DCA to establish a streamlined working process for analysing disturbance information. Avance DCA helps maintain high quality analysis of disturbances using relatively few human resources. Avance DCA has been delivered to several major grid companies in the Nordic region. They regard Avance DCA as a tool in their daily work for following up disturbances, allowing them to provide information both internally and to customers, quickly and efficiently.

Maximise efficiencyAvance DCA facilitates the collection, structuring and analysis of data on electricity grid disturbances. The system manages both manual and automated collection of data from remote electronic measurement equipment and sensors, making it possible to focus on analytics activities and information extraction rather than data gathering.

Ensure qualityThe system collects data from various remote measurement devices and sensors via TCP networks or modems. The measuring device can be a protection relay device, an event recorder, fault locator, disturbance recorder, sensors, and/or combined equipment of many different types, makes and models. To facilitate easy analysis of the data, formatting, organising and presenting of the data is treated in a similar and comparable manner.

Save timeThe system is designed to be used alongside utility operations surveillance systems, SCADA systems. This means that the operations surveillance systems initiates Avance DCA's data gathering and automated alarm systems via, for instance, e-mail or SMS, allowing operating technicians to obtain detailed information about disturbances quicker than ever before. Avance DCA provides a supplier independent platform that allows customers to use a single tool to collect, process and present data from several different types of information providers.
